    What's "folksie" about it?

I would suggest varying your brush stroke width.

Just trying to get more naive with the technique. And the subject matter. I agree about the brush work

I think you have a good base to start from, but yeah - get those details to be more fine grain and I think you would start hitting the mark more efficiently.

    Examples:
    https://i.pinimg.com/originals/0f/40...a5950dea27.jpg
    https://fineartamerica.com/featured/...lt-curlee.html

If you really want to see about making some scratch find old furniture in garage sales/flea markets, fix it up, strip it down, paint it, and resell it for a mad up charge.

    Examples:

That’s cool. The furniture is a good idea. That would sell like hot cakes here.

I think this one is something special. Added detail

    Certainly getting there.

I found also that adding the right old looking frame helps. Again - swap meet, garage sale, etc.. get some kitchy looking frames and add it. People go ape over frames on folk art.

That’s a good idea. The value would skyrocket.

That being said a former friend use to call my former stuff “naive”. I can’t believe now I am intentionally going folksy and loving it.

Very crowded. I'm not sure if round bales party like that, it feels like a farm scene that's been squished.

Bales are usually the same size though.

If they're that close together, they'll be much closer in size.

I'm a huge fan of the bold colors you used in this picture, my one complaint is that the third bale from the left seems to be floating out of place, but it may be because the shading on it isn't consistent with the rest? unless that's not a bale at all lol

Doesn’t really matter what we think because you’re going to tell us all why we’re wrong and you’re actually an artistic genius

Kudos on bringing some line width differences in this one.

Over all - looks nice.. Though the same flat, textureless, blob of black paint for the hair seems lackadaisical given everything else.

I am not getting the while cloud bits on the bottom right or, I think, trailing to the left.

The scrawling tattoos(?) on the neck could have been better if you consider the neck as a cylinder and not a flat piece of paper.

While it's one of your stronger pieces, you haven't quite got the light/shadow separation quite right. This is important as it can make an image that more powerful, which I know is just what you want.

Is there more to her or is the painting cropped like this? I feel like she seems very cramped

I've seen you do better when not using a single fat end brush.

The hair render looks poor.. the grid on the hoodie is 'meh'... and the gray washing over the various face planes isn't really doing it.

I think it's quite a striking image. Yes, the grey area on the left of the head is not helping the overall shape, and the beard hardly registers.

The perspective of the boombox is wonky and could have used some better handling.

The neck seems super weird.. overly long and thick? Perhaps a shoulder would have helped with it.

The fingers get a little weird, perspectively, but sort of goes with the vibe.

Kudos on using more than dragging a single fat, flat, brush everywhere.

I pretty well agree except I like the hand. I think the shoulders aren't wide enough as he's straight on. You could make them appear wider by expanding his top. BTW, how big are these?
