EOW #316: Immense Landing Field - VOTING
    EOW #316: Immense Landing Field

There's a wide area where an aircraft can land.

    Requirements:
-Design an environment showing an immense landing field. It's very large and wide, spanning a huge area/perimeter. Think about what kind of landscape this would be -- flat? Rugged terrain? Plains? Canyon?
    Deadline for entries: May 13,
    2018.

    Good luck, heli-painters!

@charlie... At first I had the same exact thought as you, let's do spacecraft (I'm assuming the saucer shape is spacecraft, based on the rocket on number 2), but then I reread the prompt and it did say aircraft... so I guess we need to ask Erik if a spaceport is permissible in this case.

Yes! No need to ask for clarification in the future, the EOW is always open to interpretation as long as it's within reason.

My pc is poop atm. Depending on how much is going to break in an attempt to fix the issue, I hope to start on this challenge latest after the weekend

About 2.10 mins in the video you can hear that buzzing sound. My pc has somewhat the same, just looping on a different sound I guess?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CF9Pvdsz0UM

Realtek drivers got re-installed yesterday, and all yesterday and this morning it ran perfectly, but then I sat down late afternoon and it was back.... not as aggressive, but it's gaining strength and for a few minutes occured like every 3-ish seconds than the usual 15-ish seconds when it's at its worst
It's not consistent in any way, like I can play the same song 10 times and it occurs different moments or maybe none at all! Everything started with a major crash and a blue screen of death early last week.... The buzz is often accompanied by minor lags to more rarely complete pc crashes that requires a hard reboot.
Worst was (is) where I use mouse or keyboard at the same time as there's sound. There's not much difference from me playing world of warcraft and surfing the internet while listening to a youtube video, so it's not a gaming-issue as some people seem to have...

So er.... well.... Looks like I might have to try and rip that cpu cooler off, but it doesn't come off last time I tried so plan B is to detach the entire motherboard and use plenty of force and hope it survives if the problem persists...

If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, it will be greatly appreciated

What does the task manager say about your cpu/mem/hd usage? Do you run a lot of background apps/softwares? Slowdowns such as yours typically indicate some background resource hogging everything, but since your symptoms are accompanied with the blue screen of death, then that seems more indicative of hardware issues, like an incorrect irq setting (though this isn't much of a problem nowadays) or failing hardware.

Sorry I can't be much help your guess is as good as mine.

@edgarej - Oooooh I'm gonna look into that irq thing when my boyfriend has time tonight (I hope), that's something I didn't consider yet, thank you very much for the help even if it won't solve the issue, at least now I got something new to work with

...I did clean my pc a few days before this issue started, so maybe I touched something I shouldn't have... Btw, cpu and memory seem to run as it did before the issues started.

Here's a sketch I made. It's still super rough and the perspective is all over the place. I might render this one out or try something completely different. Any suggestions?

My computer is suspiciously cheerful today compared to the other few days, so thought I'd at least try and see if it's still possible to make the challenge in time... Here's WIP 1... This is totally difficult!

    WIP2

This is turning into a spaceship design challenge instead xD
Btw, the weird markings on the ground is supposed to be crop circles.... in case anyone was wondering why there's random green scribbles in the middle of everything

@trixstar... is that a city to the left? It would be great if there are road and streets to indicate a connection between the city and the spaceports.

@anton... I think trixstar is on to something. If you add a cityscape underneath that airport/spaceport structure, then it would truly indicate the size of the structure.

@edgarej - yes, I'm hoping to squeeze in 3 clusters of structures, but I'm a bit procrastinating on it because the proportions seem off already... I somehow need to make the spaceships appear bigger like the orange one far in the background, right now the 2 furthest in front look pretty tiny given the lack of detail.... So I'm like redesigning spaceships or city? I'll probably try and redesign my spaceships and get some more practice with them

WIP redesign.... compositionwise, this sucks but ok... At least I think there's a small improvement in both spaceships ideas and the overall "mastering" digital painting

Edit: The final version has been added (the bottom one)... Gonna start on ideas for a mother's day painting now to make sure it will be done in time Sunday

CharliesComics, that tree in the foreground is dominating the composition, I'd suggest moving it to either edge of the canvas so the emphasis of the composition is on the field/ship.
And Mother's Day is different for each country.

Trixtar, if you had the time I recommend toning back on the stars(?) in the sky as some of them look like they're in front of the ships and it's messing with the perspective and scale. Also work in some landing lights or consider incorporating those crop circles into the design of the landing pads.

@CharliesComics - Haha damn you had me scared for a moment there xD Seems like Mother's day have different days depending where you live. Like father's day here is always June 5th or so, But thank you very much for the alert I hope you get to finish your art for the challenge, I like your layering of colors to make fields and depth

@InfernoKing - Great suggestions, thank you very much, and yes... I at least will have time for the stars I'm sure... and you mean having the crop circles go into the landing circles? I tried adding some light around the circles, that didn't work, and also tried making the circles a bit more illuminated to avoid having those big ships crash land everywhere, but I'm not very good with light and reflection especially not digitally! ... But if I have time, then maybe I'll try again just for the lols, it might work when the stars have been toned down

I can't make those lights happen... I blame it on lack of experience using this software.
But I fixed the sky... I hope...
