One Story's Not Enough by Vika

I plan to use this sketchbook to develop ideas, fight creative block, and have a ready source of inspiration for future projects. Many of the sketches here will tell a story quickly without my having to deal with the time intensive nature and struggle of coming up with a finished product, though there will also be plenty of finished things since I enjoy doing some of the challenges on this site. I doubt I will post the stories and thoughts behind my sketches unless someone really wants them since I'm not a good writer, therefore people are free to invent their own.

"time intensive nature and struggle of coming up with a finished product" I feel you on that. I really like what you've got so far, I'm just thinking that woman looks like she could catch a chill. Question is the dog (fox?) meant to be under the umbrella catching shelter, or just away from it?

Thank you. The fox is under the umbrella. I'd inadvertently drew it like one of those visual puzzles where it could go either way. I had a hard time conveying fox-under-shelter since the umbrella is also supposed to be one of those see-through affairs and I didn't really feel like shading beyond the very bare minimum. A different angle would have worked better, but that's one of those things I would work on if I ever decide to finish the sketch. As for the woman, I imagine it's either a warm rain or she is having 'deep thoughts' and can't be bothered with such mundane things as the shivers. Her party dress though will never recover.

An idea from the 'Daily Sketch Group' caught my interest.

Hello that picture of the tank is super good. Anyway, there's some graphic design stuff in your latest image that don't sit right with me. First of all, its considered bad to have a line with just a single word in it like you have with 'frequency'. Second, justifying text to the right ehhh, best to avoid stuff like that. I know you have the hand overlapping your text box, but maybe you can flip the whole thing. The other thing is that it's all a bit hard to read, so play around with different fonts, text sizes and how many words you allow for each line.

But yeah, i like the creativity.

A tornado rampaged through my neighborhood last week. Just got power and running water back and some of the roads are now clear enough to move around again. So much stress. I find that drawing shapes and lines with a black and white palette is relaxing. The relative mindlessness of the simple motions is very zen.

Woa! Hope everyone is ok there.

The pic shows some really relaxing patterns, indeed. It must be a nice exercise to warm up also. 👍

    Thank you for the concern.

My neighbors and family are fine, though shaken. Most of the damage was to the trees and power lines. My father's colleague lost his deck and pool when the tornado briefly touched down in his backyard. We got lucky. Doesn't seem like it when looking at the devastation, but it could have been so much worse. We haven't had a tornado in over ten years. It was supposed to be a thunderstorm and hail (strange enough weather for May) so the tornado was a surprise.

Good thing there was only material lost.

And, hey, if anything good came out of it, at least it gave you some inspiration for that animation. Cool [emoji106]

Hopefully the creepiness comes through because while I love all my pets, I'm also very aware that they are planning something. Something diabolical.

I'm a little sad the limits on here don't allow me to post the original size. It's so tiny, you can barely see anything, much less the details.
