    You're going a little fast, here. I suggest you first do simple still lifes, from observation. Pick up the basics from ctrlpaint.com.

    i realise that you're concentrating on painting right now.. but what makes you think you're ready to paint if you can't even draw this freehand? i wouldn't recommend jumping straight into painting if you haven't first been drawing for a few years. a lot of the problems such as proportion, shape and values etc can be solved first with the pencil instead of the brush.. like A LOT of the problems

    I second all the suggestions.

    I'd also say to focus on capturing the volumes in your drawings, not just flat shapes. Understand what you're seeing and reproduce that on the paper, not just copy.

    Yeah I could just sense something was missing and it wasn't obvious to me but you guys hit the nail on the head "fundamentals" is the key.

    You have a good sense of proportion already, just need to drop the color for now and analyse the human figure you're seeing. Break it down to volumes and put them into your drawing.

    If you intend on keep it digital, try using a hard brush, with only a small size variation, maybe.

    Use right size brushes, start with big one and move to smaller as you progress painting also check out Leyendecker
