Environment painting in need of a critique!! Please help.

    Hello!
I've been working on this painting for some time now, definitely not a fast one.
Would really appreciate some criticism. My main focus for this piece is lighting and composition and conveying the mood as well. A paint over is fine. (if you need to)

Add in some more atmospheric effects (begin gently) to establish distance and temperature.

Some info on what I mean: https://feltmagnet.com/painting/Atmo...pective-in-Art

The faces of the buildings should use the same lighting as the surrounding mountains.
Maybe it's just me but my eyes keep focusing on the bottom of the composition with the contrast between the lighter and darker ground and water textures. It might just be a matter of cropping out the dark border.

Complementing the other critiques, I don't think we should be able to see so many details, as that railing on the bridge for instance, considering the town is so far away. Maybe tune it down a little bit and focus on the big composition.

I second pilgo. Also, your scale is off. The mountains appear to be very small. If you pull all those little towers that are behind the mountains into the front of the mountains and drastically reduce the little details on the castle, your mountains won't look so tiny. Finally, the flags could be knocked way back in saturation. Personally, if it were me, I'd reduce the size of the whole castle to something much, much smaller or push the mountains way back into the distance.

I mean, would it be so bad if all anyone remembers about me is that I was a lover of art, of women, and wine? Perhaps I reach too far.
