    I think this image is pretty much done. It's my old entry for the cgsociety thrust challenge two years ago that I decided to revisit this summer. I might be do some more minor corrections before officially adding it to my portfolio.

    Earlier this summer I decided to mess around with this old piece and changed the lighting. I really really love the result, but my family and friends outvoted me by favoring the more "daylight" scene above;

    So then I took the green scene above and turned it into baby blue pink;

    I said I was going to be doing some minor corrections on it, but every time I mess around with the curves and color balance, I don't like the results. I'm thinking that the one above is the final piece.

    Current WIPS... I love rendering. It's a grind, but I do love it.

    Is it ok I like the version before you made it into "daylight" setting? The dark somehow seems more sci-fi-ish to me, great changes regardless

    Awesome updates! I like the camera angle on the ammo room guardian painting, did you use 3d for that? And the latest painting as well, cool robot design. I've noticed you've used the same color palette on many of your paintings recently, that's cool but it's always good to explore new things. Keep up the grind!

    @ anton

    yes I used 3d. After picking a favorite out of my thumbnail sketches I typically spend an hour modeling rough objects in 3d so I could get a good render of good lighting and perspective. Typically this is what I do, unless I feel that the sketch is either too stylized to need realistic lighting and proportions or if the sketch looks good already, which is hardly ever the case... 85% of my speed paint sketches are just blah.... but that's what they are though, speed paint sketches...

    Here's the 3d render of the ammo room guardian;

    Man, I went so far off the grid on that Chubby Dragon sketch....

    Anyways, I'm starting another illustration. The story is of a little girl and her mech/robot;

    I haven't decided yet on which one of the three I want to develop. I'm actually thinking of doing a few blender renders to see which one would be effective, then take it from there.

    I should honestly go back and finish the Frazetta study. I couldn't believe I skipped painting a whole sword!?!?!? But instead of doing that I decided to start a new master study instead. It's "Mango Pickers" by Fernando Amorsolo;
    Name:  2018-10-02-MSD-Fernando-Amorsolo-WIP001.jpg
Views: 350
Size:  89.6 KB

    I also rendered a few 3d mockups for my illustration of the girl and her robot. I still don't know what to title this piece. I've been calling it "Magic Mech" in my head, but I don't want to say it out loud because I'm afraid I might mislead people into thinking my illustration will involve male strippers. Anyways... family and friends seem to like thumbnail 2/3/5. I'm digging 7 (or a reverse 7, since my family really like that girl being on the right side of the pic;

    Nice bro. You sometimes pick strange green/purple-ish colors, but idk if that's your style. You have a good grasp on perspective. That's something I need to work on.
