How can I learn to draw a rotating cube?

Hi, i main Goal is to draw Comics about Things i enjoy just for fun and as an ambitious Hobby.

I tried 3d models as reference, but I figured out that I would like to obtain better observational skills and a better understanding of 3d forms and perspective.

I tried some Basic excercise stuff:http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...art-excercises

So i guess it is better to Train fundamentals on a regular basis- even then there will be time to Play afterwards, fundamental studies cant be wrong i hope it at least.

Now I tried another excercise, I hurried it, so the lines look really ugly.
But normally the lines look a bit better.

But as you can see: I have Problems to draw a cube in Rotation from Imagination.

    How can I learn this?
I have Problems seeing my mistakes.

Would it be dumb to just draw a rotating cube not from reference but with the help of a blender cube as reference?
Then I can at least see my mistakes and when I become more confident I will try to draw it from Imagination.

Also: Is this even helpful to acchieve my Goals?? I saw this technique in a moderndayjames YouTube Video.
