Issues present in our industry and greatest desire for it

    Yo CA,
As apart of a mentorship I'm under, I was hoping for some of your feedback on our industries in general. For example, one of the biggest issues I've faced in this industry so far has been technical rigging. The most advanced/best rigs have a decent amount of code behind them making it easier for the animators. My wish would be a comprehensive rigging system that doesn't require an in-house developed code driven set up. I've utilized some quick rig systems in Maya, but they only address very specific humanoid T-posed models.

What sort of issues does your studio (one manned or corporate) face? This can be illustration/design related too. It doesn't have to be animation related.

    Thanks in advance.

although it's been a couple of years since I worked in-house a dedicated tools staff was always a problem. Those coders assigned to tools dev and support would get siphoned off to other aspects of dev leaving artists with little to work with even though art is a majority of the impact of a game now and good tools can make or break a deadline.

You are spot on with this. I pretty much was forced to teach myself coding for this exact reason.
