I think I'm good with the upper legs now, so I'm going to move on to the lower leg. I couldn't find any good videos on the calves, so I started with the foot instead. I'm going to study the lower leg from bridgeman if I can't find any material on the calves. Also, I didn't do the perspective drawing today, so I'll do it tomorrow.

Life classmate observations from today. I'm not sure whether or not her sketchbook looks like it's on the table correctly, perspective problem : ^).

Pass few days I haven't really been drawing at home. For the past two days it has been a lot of homework I needed to do and for the past three days I've just been exhausted from school and personal stuff. Instead of drawing today, I finished all my homework for the weekend. Tomorrow I might just take a fill day for resting, but I might draw if I feel like it..

These are Bridgman studies. I'm getting pretty confused with these because they aren't really matching what I learned earlier and they're very exaggerated compared to my leg.

Also learned something from the perspective book. I get the instructions and concept of it, but I don't get how to make an even square on the ground plane or I might be overthinking it. Also, I can't get the other vanishing points right lol.

All my classmate sketches over past 3 days: I don't think a lot of them have been turning out that well and it's getting harder to find new people to sketch.

I went outside the house and brought my sketchbook with me. Tomorrow I'll start trying to learn anatomy again.

Yeah, Loomis is very helpful with the perspective and stuff and I'm not planning on stopping :>.

I figured out how to have a consistant vanishing point in the brewer grid with math : ) and I was reading a lot in the how to draw perspective book, so I reached the circles and ellipses section now. Also, I copied some muscle anatomy from Bridgman and studied it afterwards. I think I memorized the location and insertions of the muscles he mentioned and have a better understanding of the leg now : ).

Pretty much did what I did yesterday. Tomorrow, I'll test myself to see if I know the muscles or not then and then I'll do more shaded studies of Bridgman.

First thing I did at home was two Bridgman studies and then I did a memory test at all angles to see if I know the muscles he's talking about : ^). I know more than I did before, but I need to still learn the gritty stuff. After I think I'm good, I'll more on to some photo studies of real people and try to apply.

I did a bunch of doodle in my art class sketchbook. All the things for the doodles were done with no references, which made me very suprized and I'm happy that I still remember the muscles of the torso, arms, and neck. There's also a very awkwardly posed Itachi : ^)

Decided to take a break day today and just did a another memory test. I think I did a little better than I did yesterday, but I really need to go over the pelvis and other leg bones. Also, here's the references I've been learning from, from Constructive Anatomy by Bridgman.

Did a little doodles in school : ^). I tried doing that rotating practice thing with the girl and I need to practice it with the face : ^). I'll try to draw some classmates if I can. Also, I had to do a self portrait on a small wood panel for a painting project for art class.

I had a lot of homework today : ^) and exams and finals are coming up soon. Teachers are starting to assign a lot of review homework, so not a lot of free time coming up. I did some arm and leg anatomy review at school. I still need some tweaking for the arms and when I was doing the legs I looked up some bone references and the femur is a lot more in and less angled than I keep thinking.

Also, I made my first ever creature today for the painting project in class. I sketched and planned the creature out already, but it probably really sucks compared to other people's lol. If I go for the first idea, I'll make it not running because you can't attract bugs with light if you're moving.

I had a lot of homework over last two days. : ^) and finished it today. I wanted to take it easy today, so I just did notes on the pelvis. I took notes on it before a year ago when I started learning more seriously, but I wasn't studying properly and I've been learning about the anatomy of the body for a while now, but I still don't really know the pelvis.

I was bored after finishing my work and playing League, so I went outside and sketched some things. I tried to just have fun with the process and not worry about everything being perfect as usual. Also, I did my first real perspective thing from observation and it turned out well.

Really nice dedication here! Your portraits from life are looking much better and your last observational drawings are looking more and more solid.

Your continued practice of fundamentals is definitely showing. I would say your lines still look a little rushed and not so clean. I've seen you're practicing warm-up lines, but here's a video that might be helpful (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaif0PpNMas) in regards to that.

Also, would like to see some more figures so you're applying that anatomy knowledge you've been studying! Keep it up, Zaulta...will check back again soon.

    @svemir
Thanks for commenting and for the video : ). I haven't really had a goal lately with my observation drawings, so I'll try focusing on that right now. Yeah and I want to apply all I've learned about the body when I feel good with the legs, but I'm pretty scared about it since the poses I've done look so stiff : ^).

I don't think I'll be able to draw at home at all this week until Friday because I have an exam and a lot of projects right now at school, which is killing me. Here's the stuff I did over past 2 or 3 days.

    Observation of classmates from Monday.

This was from Sunday. I was just reviewing and testing what I remembered from Proko's video and practiced some simple pelvis's afterwards. I don't think I need to go in depth for the pelvis. I used to simplify the pelvis as an overly long pelvis, but the cylinder shape for the pelvis is much more efficient.

This is from my self portrait painting project for school and it's my first time using acrylic since I started drawing a little 2 years ago : ^). My eyes and lips look blocked out and weird because I messed up on them, but I'll redo it tomorrow. I'm also doing my skin in black and white just to make skin easier on myself since I couldn't get my right tone and it's what I'm used to. Imagine how my digital paints are going to be like : ^).

Exams and projects are over for at least this week : ), so I have free time now.

All of my big projects and exams ended yesterday, but I thought I deserved a break from everything, but I watched and followed along the video svemir sent. I've seen a pdf version of his lessons and practiced them before, but they're a good review and I might continue his lessons again if I feel like it.

Today I reviewed leg stuff and did a photo study. Going to try to stop doing the leg muscle diagram from Bridgman over and over again because I think it's become repetitive.

Had a lot of free time in class today, so I had the chance to do a lot of observation stuff. I tried to make my lines cleaner and more precise, but it's still very hard because I feel like I kind of have to rush with these.

Here's my progress for my art class painting. It looked a lot better 2 days ago : ^). Everyone in class was commenting how 'good' it looked, but I didn't understand why though. I realized that there were many problems with it, like the eyes are too far apart and a lot more, so I tried to fix it and made it worse. Trying not to beat myself up too much, since it's my second time using acrylic and the first in 2 years.

Here's all the stuff I did today, but I don't think I did that much. I want to move on to full body poses and stuff now, since I'm getting bored with legs and I think it's clear that I know the gist of the legs now. I might need some studying on bending legs though.

I did an observational drawing of my parent's tv stand area. Pretty happy with the result, even though it's not that accurate and the perspective may be a little off, but I had a lot of fun while sketching it. Took a photo, but I don't think it match with the sketch?

Nice anatomy drawings and your self portrait did get better. Anyway, your camera might have turned it into a two point perspective, I've seen mobile phone cameras doing it. And now you have a good exercise, just draw over your pic the extra perspective lines: top of TV, bottom of TV stand, top of both loud speakers (one "becoming" shorter)...

Thanks for the comment : ). I'm going to pause on the self portrait and start on another one, since I have a deadline. I kind of don't get by the camera turning it into a 2 pt perspective. Also I drew sketched the tv stuff from life and I took the picture for future reference for the sketchbook.

Yesterday I wasn't really feeling it and I was out of the house most of the day. I read up more on perspective circles and did some portraits from imagination. I've been drawing portrait ever since I started and I'm still ass at facial expressions lol. Also, I used a facial expressions book to help me with expressions.

Today I did full bodies in a neutral pose from memory and I wanted to do more dynamic poses afterwards, but these took very long for me : ^(. Tomorrow I'll either dive into studies, watch videos on stiffness, or do more poses that are dynamic. I might need more brushing up on some anatomy parts, like the scapula and arms/

Number 3 expression is very cool, and about the perspective post I get it. You drew correctly what you were seeing (1 point perspective). The thing is, the camera that you used created/increased the perspective distortion of a second vanishing point (that one could ignore/ simplify) located on the left of your drawing. So the lines that you correctly drew ~horizontal and parallel, converge on the pic.
The why/how does the camera change the image require some reading on wide angle/ fish-eye lenses, but you can see it happening here (check ball ok at 3:50 and very stretched at 4:03).

Oh I get it now, thanks again. I don't think I have access of a really good camera, so next time I'll probably just try to zoom out the best I can lol.

I accidentally took a long nap and fell behind in my schedule with a bunch of homework.

I started the painting of the creature concept in class yesterday and worked on it today. Also, did a few sketches of people at school. I think I did the layers of painting wrong. Should've done all of the background and then the creatures.

    Thanks lol

Rip forum. Here's stuff from the past 5 or 6 days or so : ^). I think I got almost everything, but I might be missing some.

I finished that painting in my art class. First time making a creature and I'm pretty ok with it.

Started doing figure drawings 7 days ago and kept on running out of time at first. I got the references from quickposes and they were 1-1.5 minutes

Did some observation stuff of perspective stuff outside. Never thought I would be drawing a car ever, but I somehow did it and I think that the car is too chubby looking compared to the reference. Also, it looks like I shortened the lake by a lot and made it look smaller, but I'm still happy with it. Some of the reference don't match up becaaue I was in a different position

Decided to take a break day today but felt guilty for not doing anything, so did a small sloppy observation sketch and read a little in the perspective book.

I'm getting a bit nostalgic, your studies remind me so much of my time at University. My sketches looked pretty much the same - expect I did less in terms of drawing technical stuff. Good to see you going for all of it!
A few things I notice while browsing through your latest sketches: in any profile views of heads I feel like you miss some of the back part of the cranium. In combination with the hair the heads are okay for the most part, as you give back enough volume - but your construction underneath tells a different story. Be careful about that. Analyze once more how much volume the cranium actually has.
Also, if you add the shadows to a figure, it's great to work with the side of the pencil. But maybe to make it appear more like a shape, less like single strokes. I know at times that's hard if the timer is running out, but it can do wonders for your drawings!
Besides that, just keep on rockin'!

Thanks for stopping by with a critique and I'm flattered that you felt something with the sketchbook : ). Right now I'm just trying to get as good as I can when I apply to university lol. Yeah, there might be something wrong with my Loomis process that's making the cranium short for the side view, so I'll try to fix see what's wrong with my construction and look twice at the back of the heads and I agree with the shading shapes stuff.

The perspective thing took all day to do : ^). I think I made the original ground plane too long so it's now rectangular, but it's fine. I was feeling very drained from the perspective thing, so I went on to do the imagination pose instead. Instead of only doing one pose everyday, I'm gonna try to do 3 after I do figure drawings this time and actually stick to it unlike last time or at least two everyday.

I'm thinking after I feel comfy with doing poses, I should start doing digital stuff : ).

I'm a little happier about the pose today, but I think the arms might be a little short, might just be me though.

Not really satisfied with what I've drawn today : ^). With the figure drawings, I ran out of time a lot today with the shorter ones, but might just be because I have figure drawn in a few days.

Yesterday I learned some new perspective stuff and went over some thing I thought I forgot. I didn't do any figure drawings, but still did some poses from imagination, for the first time from the back view and did a little doodles just for fun afterwards.

Haven't been drawing much for the past day or two, except for a few things. Today I did a little perspective stuff at school and decided to have try digital for once because I've been wanting to try forever : ^), so I did a small photo study of an eye for about 3 hours lol. Guess I'm fine with it because It's my first time actually trying to paint. Also tried not to 'cheat' by tracing or color picking.

Did one perspective thing at school, 5 minute figure drawing studies, and a little poses from imagination.

I don't think I've really been improving in my figures, so I think I need to start changing things up. I'm gonna try start doing my figure drawing studies with either brush pen, pen, or permanent marker so I can just be more delicate with my lines and just get the gist of the pose instead of focus too much on detail. Also just not figure studies too, but now faces with ink also : ). I can draw faces decently, but only at certain views and I don't know how to do facial expressions well or open mouths/jaws, so I'm gonna try to improve on that for the next few weeks.

I'm pretty happy with my imagination poses today. Tried not doing very dynamic poses because poses usually aren't too dynamic anyways. Also, tried incorporating perspective into them and I think it went pretty well.
