    Decided that today would be more of a rest day, so I did do much. I'll be finishing the spine tomorrow and make a sketch of my friend's birthday present :>

    Very good studies, Proko's anatomy videos are very good so it's definitely a good class to be studying. Nothing to critique as the studies are looking promising and you're focussing on the right stuff. Although I suggest you make your images a little bigger because right now they're all extremely small and pretty hard to see what actually going on (for me anyway). I think scaling your images to around 700-1000px is best. Keep doing what you're doing!

    Finally finished the the spine assignments, but kind of half assed the the last one : ^). I did what I said yesterday, so I also made a little sketch for the present. It's a pretty typical thing I would sketch, but I want it to look decent. The character's I'm drawing for her is Kuroo Tetsuroo from the anime Haikyuu!!.

    @Dennis Kessel
    Yeah thanks again for recommending him to me, really great teacher. I'll go back and make sure that the images are bigger now. I set the image size to medium and thumbnail because I wanted my sketchbook to be easy to scroll through.

    I'm gonna redo this with a front view portrait : ^). I'm still very new to the 3/4 view, so after I'm done with Proko's lessons I may do another Istebrak 14 day with that view. It will also be easier, since the reference also has a front view. It might just look unappealing at the moment. Maybe I'll try finishing the head tomorrow.

    Finished the sketch, so I'm going to try to finish at least half of the shading tomorrow. I'm planning to keep the skin as light as possible and the hair really dark.

    I just wanted a day where I could just rest for a day with doing minimal work, so I just took notes from Proko's pelvis video. I don't know if I'm breaking the rules, but it's art related :>.

    My time was cut a little short today, but I was still able to get a few things done. The weather says it's going to snow 1-3 inches in my area so there's a good chance I'll get off from school, so that's when I'll catch up on practice.

    I planned my art schedule from now to June, which is when school ends. I was elected art captain for this school wide event, so I have a bunch of creative work to do for school also. Mon-Thurs I'm going to be working on Proko and anatomy lessons and Fri-Sun I'll be doing whatever I want to do or need to do, including anatomy lessons and school stuff. For example, this weekend I have to design my grades year t-shirt and finish the birthday present.

    I have to admit that I haven't really been motivated to draw recently, but I guess that's part of trying to do this everyday. The problem with these pelvis sketches is probably that I'm getting the bucket shape wrong. I know that this pelvis is still off, tomorrow I'll sketch some buckets for practice before doing the next pelvis. I'll do this pelvis as a self assessment again after I've done all of the others.

    Wow this is really hard and each one takes a very long time : ^). Since I can't get the bucket shape right I'm probably going to work on just that next week.

    Did the second pelvis again today and finally figured out what I was doing wrong after sketching the first steps like 8 times. I was pretty much making the left and right edges the front and back. I've got a simple concept for the t-shirt design. Our class theme is 'Flashback Freshmen', so I was thinking of doing Marilyn Monroe for the center, Michael Jackson for one of the 3/4, and another guy. For the text part, I'll just be putting flashback on the top and freshmen on the bottom with a retro font. Looking at the t-shirts from last year, I think we have a good chance of getting 1st place for this event :>.

    I finished the T-shirt design and I'm pretty happy with the result, even though all of them look a bit off. Sorry that some of the progress photos were angled a bit weirdly, I didn't take normal pictures, but I posted it on my Instagram story.

    Pretty happy with myself today since I finally got a good grasp on the pelvis :>. I also touched up the t-shirt design a little bit. Since I didn't do much today, I'll mke sure to do at least two of the pelvises tomorrow.

    Kind of broke my promise, but hey I have an excuse, which is that I had a crap ton of homework. This pelvis angled kind of confused me as first, but I got the hang of it on the third try. I also didn't need the instructions on the video for the 3rd one :>>>

    I'm still having trouble with the pelvis, but I did the assignment, so I'm just gonna move on to the next videos. Maybe I'll practice more on the weekends if I have the time.

    When I got home today I took a really long nap and when I woke up mom forced me to do homework, but just took notes instead. At school today I brought my personal sketchbook and sketched two people (20 min each), one of them actually being acceptable (since he sits right across from me). The second one looks really weird when flipped, but I have excuses :>>. She was across the classroom and people when on their phones, making their heads in the way walk of the time, but I did learn that the eye is more close when a person is looking down or at least when they're on their smartphone. I'm gonna try to do this again, but later in the year. First, I want to actually do good or else I'll just be embarrassed at myself. So, on the weekends, if I don't need to do anything art related, I'm gonna go on that quickposes and do the faces, starting at 20 min and going down.

    My process for doing these is kind of like the Loomis method, but not really. I start with a circle, add the center line and bottom of chin, then do the outline of the face.

    Today I also took a very long nap today; I should start sleeping earlier lol. I'll try to finish the last 6 pictures tomorrow, but I think I'll be needing critiques on all of them once I'm done.

    I seem to have some hatred for drawing bones : ^). The ones that were facing the back were giving me a lot of trouble, especially #9. I'll be making a post asking for critiques for the spine tomorrow. Also, tomorrow I'm gonna be visiting the VMFA to see the Chinese Sculptures there with friends, so I'm probably going to bring my sketchbook drawing a few pieces there and maybe sketch a friend or two.

    I think you should first use a more simplified version of the ribcage like a box and try to get the angles and perspective on that right from references. The way you're drawing it now it has quite a complicated shape and it's not correct in many places. The proportions within the ribcage itself arent correct. Things like angles of ribs, length of sternum and total width/length. What you are studying is very good don't get me wrong and you show a great amount of dedication which I highly respect but I think you're biting off a little more than you can chew atm.

    Drawing the ribcage on it's own from reference is okay but it's better if you draw it in combination with the pelvis and maybe also add very simplified lines to represent the limbs. Some of the reference your picking is also making it super hard on yourself, some of those poses have quite a bend ribcage which is way harder to represent in its simplified form. Try and go with less dramatic poses for now. I have done one of them quickly with simple boxes which I think you would benefit from doing too. It's still very hard but will give you less to think about than the approach you're using now.

    I sketched one of then things at the VMFA, but I was cut off since I had to meet my friends somewhere. Also started to shade my friend's present and I decided to do something new and do a very dramatic lighting. So far I think it looks nice.

    @Dennis Kessel
    Yeah, I agree completely agree with what you're saying. I got the references that were given to me from Proko, so I'll look for simpler references on quick poses and I'll start doing the simple ribs and pelvis like you said. Thanks :>

    For the most part I'm finished with the sketch, but tomorrow I'll be adding some wrinkles to the clothes, smooth out the skin, and add more contrast. I'll also be making a critique post for this tomorrow.

    I saw your drawing of anime man in the critique section. And yeah, some shadow under the brow would help. I also think you could lighten the line you used for the bottom of his eye. It makes it look a bit too drawn on? Which is not what you want as you want to create the illusion that it's a 3D shape. Other than that, I think the collar looks a bit oversized? But that just might be the anime fashion. None the less, looking at references of shirt collars couldn't help.

    I did more practice today; I'll try to do the more advanced ribs by the end of next week (references are on post #46 and #47). Also tried my best to carry out what the critiques said. I did for the most part, but the hair was riddled with charcoal. I'm pretty anxious for tomorrow, since it's the day when I'm giving the drawing to my friend. It's my first time giving a drawing to anyone. I just hope she likes it : ^), I even sprayed it with a fixative.

    @AJams
    I lightened the bottom eyelid a bit, like you suggested. Yeah you're right the collar is over sized, but it's already been sprayed so there's nothing I can do. Now that you mention clothing, hopefully after I can sketch the human body decently I'll study some clothing, since it's never really been a strong point of mine.

    Good news, she said she'll add the drawing to her shrine lol. Bad news, I couldn't draw today since I had so much schoolwork. Good news again, Friday this week I'm going on a field trip to Philadelphia for National Arts Honors Society, it's going to be a 4-5 hour drive, I'll be there for 9 hours, then I'll be driven home in the same drive. I'll do my best to draw as many things as possible. I have to go to school on Friday at 5 AM, I already stay up pretty late, so I'm gonna do an all nighter and in that time I'll be catching up to what I didn't do today.

    I like your methodical approach to these studies. It would be nice to see you using more confident lines.

    Looks like I got the dates wrong for the field trip; the forms were due today and the real field trip is in 2 weeks. Even though I didn't do an all nighter, I still managed to catch up because I stayed up a little longer. Sometimes I feel like I'm not doing enough practice everyday, so starting tomorrow during my free period I'll start trying to get a few more sketches in.

    @Mijoychild
    Thanks, guess that's just the way I find most efficient and I'll do my best to work on my lines. It's going to be a really bad habit in the future, so thank for telling me.

    Looks like I had a lot of free time at school today, but the practices were more quantity over quality, because I wasn't checking over it after I sketched it. I didn't do any practice at home, because I was tired, but it wont happen again. Next week, Monday through Friday, I'm going to spend all my practice time doing that more advanced ribs that I was doing about a week earlier; I can't work on it on the weekends because I have to do this shitty sketchbook assignment for art class, create an environment for your sewing project monster. The way the monster was designed is that I did face, someone else did the torso, and someone else made the legs.

    It's kind of hard trying to make confident lines; I know that you use your shoulder too move, but I have a bad habit of using my knuckles to sketch.

    (#15's hips and #20 is very off)

    Not much today; all I did was the sketch for my art class assignment, but I'm going to be working on this all tomorrow in watercolor, so it's fair. I'm going to try to imitate the water, leaves in the painting, and the texture of the trees. This is also my first time ever doing a back round or landscape.

    Watercolor and water color papers make me want to die lol. Kind of gave up half way like the other portrait, but this one looks better since I was more patient and looks like my planning still sucks. I know that I won't be a watercolor master on my first few tries, but it's not what I want to focus on right now. I'm going to do my best not to touch watercolors right now, until I actually want to devote a few months for it. I want to learn how to watercolor after I'm good with the humans in general, including clothes, which I'm estimating to be around summer time. I may buy a watercolor book; I already have two in mind, but I don't know if I should, since there's a bunch of tutorials on YouTube I could use instead. Oh and this upcoming weekend I'll finally be able to do the Quickposes facial practice, like I've always been wanting to do.

    Started over since I carelessly painted over the brown reflection part of the water.

    I redid #15 and #20 on the simple ribs practice. I didn't really feel like practicing today, so I was procrastinating before and during doing it; at least I did something today. I'll bring my sketchbook to school and work on practicing, since I seem to be more focused there with less distractions.
