Exclamation Copyrights & Art on the Internet

    Hey all!

I'm sure some of you are posting your work online. let's say on Instagram/ youtube/ facebook etc...? So I bet you can relate to the next paragraph:

"The existing legal framework and its incompatibilities with the online environment do not provide sufficient protection to creators for their copyrights, especially to “smaller” contributors who lack the abilities to safeguard their Intellectual Property from being downloaded, altered or distributed without permission, and to monetize from their creation...."

Has someone ever stole your work? tried to present it as his/hers or just post it without your consent / proper credit??

    TELL ME ABOUT IT!

How about we cut to the chase - what's the sales pitch?
My commentary is a gift to you.

I feel like about 10% of all the time I spend actually being an artist is working on DCMA takedown notices.

I never upload anything I wouldn't want to see stolen without a watermark these days. In fact I use a watermark style my husband made which is basically just a repeating pattern of watermark logos, rather than simply a name and website. No one is going to spend an hour editing out that.

Artists really cannot afford to sue companies that steal their ideas, which is a bigger problem than merely lifting an image or hotlinking.
