Thanks for the comments folks....break out your pens (or pencils) and draw!!!

Project week so there's a lack of goods. Anyway here are some snippets....loads of trash in the sketchbook...didn;t feel like taking pictures of all of them. (I have no scanner )

Hey Jerry, you should do some process work for these people since so many people like it.

It's always interesting to watch you draw with that pen during lunch and I've caught myself trying to mimic () your pen movement once or twice since i was watching.

Do you draw these poses out of your head, or look at miltary reference? I know I look at war photos for poses and such. And by looking at all of these sketches, it gave me inspiration to start getting my ass in gear and producing more concepts haha.

Of course I have reference! There's always a need to look at references. But I don't copy direct from pictures....its more like I have a collection of pictures which I look through once in a while and have an idea what it looks like. Then you go ahead and draw. Sort of combine elements from different pictures before you draw them.

I find it hard to believe if an artist told me he/she doesn't need references. You'd still need to know how mechanical joints work if you're drawing robots or how airframes and aerodynamics work when you draw airplanes. Not to copy, but to have an idea how it works so you can make your ideas believeable while still looking absurdly out of this world. So its good to have a library of pictures to look through.

Ian (red mimic) errr what do you mean by process work?

I get the feeling I won't draw as much these few days....just bought Halflife 2. :p

Ya I am doing the same thing with reference atm. I got a pic from the newspaper of like 8 troops, and Im using it to just draw 4 of them. And ya HL2 is addicting I finally beat it yesterday but I found the ending so confusing.

The location design will come later. I'm still struggling to finalize the defensive droids used by the sniper to defend the bridge. Its just standard stuff, nothing extraordinary.

I've got the story tied down but I'm not ready to start yet and these sketches aren't finals....in fact I don't think they will ever make it into the panels I'm not ready to share the storyline yet Its unpolished as it is, gotta consult a couple of friends for authenticity first.

As for the tactics....that's a different thing altogether.....I'm mixing MOUT methods with the new weapons I've come up with so its going to take some figuring out. And that ties in with the location design too....its all going to take a while.

Great work, especially like the weapons and generall feel of modern warfare to it all, my service in the army ended just a week ago and Iv'e tried all kind of weapons ranging from handguns to sniper rifles, love the detail you put into the weaponparts, kinda makes me remember all the time I spent cleaning weapons tho, heavy machineguns are a real bitch to clean >_<
