Scal is trying to draw! - a sketchbook

Hi there! A forum newbie here. I'm a 17 years old living being, going to turn 18 this year. I've always liked to draw but recently (about a year ago) I decided I actually wanted to pursue a career in art (animation/concept art/dunno). It's not helpful though, it caused a lot of artblocks and long periods of time when I didn't draw at all (December to a few days ago, for example). I'm determined to change it and lately I've put on a more positive way of thinking, let's say, and I'm actually enjoying drawing much more!

I'm also an IB student, so sometimes it's hard to manage my school workload with how much I'd like to draw daily (hopefully about 2-3 hours a day). I'm going to finish school in May 2018 and then I will take a gap year to improve my skills and I'm going to apply to The Animation Workshop in Denmark in 2019. At least, that's the plan. Haha.

That was a little bit of background information about me, now onto my drawing.

I've been stuck in my comfort zone for way too long, I love drawing faces, which you can obviously see.

^ These four drawings are from 2016 and very early 2017, but I still like them, hah.

Now, I've started doing some photostudies.

I also doodled my hand yesterday in about 40 minutes, the fingers aren't quite good, but overall it looks better than I expected.

I'm also doing gesture drawings, but they're really weak and I don't think there's any use in posting them yet...

Anyway, that's it for now! Thanks in advance for any comments with advice or critique. :'D

Hi! Yesterday I had a little bit of fun and did a redraw. The original drawing is from March 2016, so the difference is a year, yay.

I managed to do a little fanart today. I'm so surprised I made it this fast, cause it took me less than 2 hours, probably one hour and a half, while most of my digital drawings take about 2-3 hours or more.

And I did something from imagination - it's actually the first time ever I finished a full body piece, woah.

I like your art style! And your studies are also really good. The tact that you drew the last one from imagination is amazing, especially since it's your first time drawing a full body.
