This digital study was done from a photo that can be found at posespace.com. Posespace is a great resource if you decide you'd like to drop 15 bucks to get a variety of hi-res pictures of models in various poses. What makes it unique is that you often get shots from a full orbit around the model to get a better sense of volume and three demonsionality. I still prefer a live model but I feel like this turned out to be a decent exercise during a light work day.

    Any crits would be great.

This is a master study painted from a John Singer Sargent self sortrait. I've never really done a master study before and I admit I got a little frustrated with this one and felt that it had plateaued a bit after having reached the point where it is now. I thought I'd throw it up here for some crits. One thing I've already noticed is that the face is tilted down a bit more in mine. My drawing is off.

    The original.

Lightship69: Thanks, man. Do you mean the graphite drawing on the previous page? That's a study from a Ribera painting of Saint Onuphrius on display at the MFA.

Here's a recent study. This is a study of an Écorché sculpture by Ligier Richier painted from a photo reference.

    ...the reference.

    Kambei Shimada: Thanks.

zerdron: I did away with it because every attempt I made at incorporating it just through off the balance of the gesture and the image as a whole.

It's been a while since my last update. Since my last post, I've moved to San Francisco to attend the atelier out here. I've started with the part time figure drawing sessions with the intention of shifting into the full time program when my finances allow for it.

Here's quick update of what I've been up to at atelier. I have a few other drawings but I haven't been able to get to a scanner. Excuse the poor photo quality. I ought to be able to get a proper scan of it after my next session.

I brought this month's figure drawing home with me to get the shadows filled in since it covers so much of the figure. I thought I'd get a quick scan of it to show what these drawings look like in early stages.

    Also, here's another character design.

Very little I can say, other than MORE, MORE, MORE! Yours is one of my favourite sketchbooks on Conceptart - no lie. I love your gieger-esque creatures, and your recent character designs are just fantastic. MORE!

Your stuff is awesome. Been geeking out a little over your graphite figure drawings. Very nice stuff. The only crit I have is that your digital works lack the same attention to plane changes that your graphite drawings have, but you've improved on that through every digital piece you've put up so I don't think you have to worry about it too much. Very impressive stuff.

If you have the time, please stop by my sketchbook, Chock Full o'Nuts.
I would appreciate any advice or critiques.
