    Wild!

I gotta say, your stuff is wild. Great compositions, imagery, brushwork, feel, backgrounds, everything really. I was mightily impressed. If you're not already doing illustrations for money, you should be. Keep up the awesome work.

Well, you have improved lots during this thread already, better depth, better anatomy, and more patience - or is that endurance? - for your images.

And there's something going on on that Tyrannosaur's side that looks like it's carved in spattered clay, and I really like that.

This is an update of a painting I did in oils back in my undergrad years.

    The original.

Your designs are so bone-chilling and almost unholy haha.. I don't mean it in a bad way. You definitely have a particular vision

Are you attending Safehouse? I thought I read that somewhere...

I really enjoy your monsters/creatures; they're quite unsettling (and I mean that in a good way)!

Medelo: Thanks. I'm not at Safehouse yet. I'm moving to San Francisco sometime this summer and will be starting up in the fall. That will be the major shake up that I desperately need too. I can say with certainty that so much of my painting process just plain scatterbrained and slow. There's a lot of crap I need to unlearn.

    raminafshari: Thanks!

    Amarok: Thanks!

I think you should try to use lager scaled brushes-

What a freakishly wonderful sketchbook, i really like your ideas and creature concepts, and the improvement you've made over these years is awesome, especially this past half year.

I just wish there was more to look at, consider me inspired, can't wait for your next update~

Elophant: Thanks. Yeah, I've experimenting with Painter 11's "real oil" brushes a bit with that sp. Unfortunately when they're sized too large, the render speed of the strokes takes a hit. I'll get it figured out.

    [ste]: Thanks. Much appreciated.

AustenFM: Thanks man. That's encouraging to hear that the past few months have been fruitful. I've been in a funk ever since graduating from my BFA program and going from to a 40+hour burnout day job that offered no fulfillment whatsoever while trying to make art on that side. So last summer I applied to WaffleHouse Atelier out in San Fransisco and I'm now making plans to leave in a few months. This point is that art can't be allowed to take a back burner again.

Here's a 1hr and 45min self portrait. I suspended a mirror over my Monitor and Tablet at about a 75 degree incline. It definitely could've come out better.

Very effective use of complementary color schemes in the digital paintings here. The blues create stark contrast against the pinks and oranges, very interesting. I think I could learn to apply this more in my own work.

Here are a couple of quick reinterpretations of characters from Mortal Kombat. I'm of course looking forward to the upcoming reboot and have been on a whole nostalgia kick. I thought it'd be fun to re-imagine some of the more iconic characters. I've been doodling these whenever I take breaks from other things.

Here are a couple of recent graphite sketches.

heyyy nice stuff! i really love your painted work, and find it way stronger than your drawings. my only crit is to push the drawings to be as refined and smooth as those paintings. try blending differently instead of the hatching, and i think itll help make them strongerrrrrr. cant wait to see new stuff!

Thanks. I've been reexamining my approach to drawing and painting lately. I learned to draw by working the entire sheet all at once and really executed them in a manner where I was really mapping values and not working in a way that immediately described form and volume. I think value control is really my big hurdle.

    Here's another recent sketch.
