    P.O.W # 86 –Sleepless eyes…

    Deadline: June 7th, 2016

    Topic 86 A: The Tiger’s Eye

Topic 86 B: It keeps you up at night…

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

In all P.O.W.! Challenges, you can interpret the art any way you wish, and the more creatively, the better. Any media. B&W or Color, unless we specifically point out otherwise.

You can present your solution as a minimum of TWO pages to any practical maximum you wish.

Your pages can be any format, but make sure they line up to the same specs for each page.
Standard comic specs are below, if you like,....and, yes, you can have the first or last (or both) as a splash page if you want--just don't get TOO extreme on page counts.

REMEMBER: You don't have to have a complete comic to qualify for polling--if you realize you're running out of time, try to get at least TWO pages finished by the deadline. That's all you need to qualify for polling..

Standard Comic Book Size: (a guideline, not a rule)

    --Trim size: 6 5/8" x 10 1/4"
    --Live art area: 6" x 9"
    --Bleed size before trimming: 6 7/8" x 10 1/2" (1/8" in all directions)

Just a reminder--those of you who didn't get a chance to finish exactly the way you wanted to, or ran into deadline problems, remember there is a sticky section where you can post your stuff when you do get it up to speed.

    Good luck!!

The spirit of the beloved one appears every once in a while... But every time he calls her.. she disappears. Waiting for her takes his sleep every night... expecting to hear the subtile sound of the piano.

Please tell me what you all think, and if you can tell what's happening. Page 4 is a bit of a mess really.

    Fantastic!

I adore the panel layout creative choices you both are making: the mirrored effect between the light and dark beds in Moirae's work and the single image split into four panels on page two of AbrahamDHR's piece. I notice that you both chose to go with silent pieces, too. Is this your guys' preference?

to Moirae: I'll describe what I read when I look at your piece, and you can let me know if I've interpreted it correctly, k?

There's two mirror worlds (or dimensions), and through some quirk, like being unable to sleep, two mirrored souls find that they can see across the divide between their existences. The dark version's hair has anti-gravity special capability.

At first, curious, they simply look at each other, but suddenly they find that their hair takes on a life of its own, entwining each with the other. Like the dark version "wakes up" the light version's hair. The girls instinctively fight, the dark eventually overpowering the light!

The dark one encapsulates the light in her dark hair, and pulls her permanently into the dark dimension, as her new twin, and BFF - having shared her special anti-gravity hair capability with the new resident.

(It's way cooler in pictures than in my words! )

Great work on the braid panel borders, too! One thing that occurred to me is that, as the fight moves in the favor of the dark version, maybe more and more of the panel border's braids could transition to the dark color as we move down page four... like a fourth-dimension reinforcement of what is happening in the story.

Really like the treatment of the tones, two, like the transition of the back ground tones between top and bottom of the "mirrored" pages. Is this all colored in Photoshop (or another digital program), or is some of it traditional, as well?

    Great work!
