    Spacegryphon's Art Dump

Some of my pictures I made in the past three years in a more or less chronological order. Feel free to criticize,

Welcome to the forums! I see potential and imagination in your work. It's good that you have tackled different mediums and it looks like you put great effort into the nice details (especially in clothing and armor design), I wish I could become this patient one day
What mistakes I can point out here are mostly about the anatomy, that is most obvious from my point of view. For example, you seem to have a tendency of making arms a little short (like in cat-woman and a few others). I think taking some time to study just the figure (with no clothes to distract) would be a big plus. Gesture drawing also helps your poses too look more fluid and natural. This will eventually lead to better understanding of form and shading will become much more easier and remove a lot of the guesswork, when you draw from imagination.
So to sum up, from my point of view, there's no lack of imagination, you just need to put some grinding into studies. It's going to make a big difference. Good luck

Hey, Nice to see you have your own sketchbook. Really loving your progress. You're most recent painting looks really nicely polished, though the brightness of the shirt could be taken down slightly so that the viewers attention isn't distracted from the main subjects of the painting (which from what I can tell is the tech hand and the face). I am also curious, what does the text in the background on the building say? It looks like korean...

Aubergine, thank you. Anatomy is my old enemy. Enetomy, so to say j/k Also for me, gestures are really hard to pull off purely from imagination :/
XtremeOverdrive, thanks. Indeed it's supposed to be Korean and means "Heavy Metal" (that's what I entered into Google translate)

A pencil drawing of a witch called "Niam" and her raven "Quoth".
Which version looks better: "sharp" (left) or "smooth" (right)? They were scaled down with different settings.

Edit: it compiles the left version down for some reason. :/ See the sharp version here: http://spacegryphon.deviantart.com/art/Niam-575136349

I got bored the other day. Objective: practice facial expressions a bit.

I don't think it matters. You can post as much nudity as you want.

I always love the outfits/design of your characters! One little thing I notice with the proportions is that you tend to make the heads rather big in comparison to the bodies, which makes them look less like the grown adults their bodies suggest they're supposed to be. (I can recommend the Loomis books for details on realistic to idealized proportions)

And thanks for stopping by my sketchbook

Here something with three vanishing points. Drawing the vanishing lines in order to keep everything in the correct perspective was actually the hardest part.

Something I want to comment on is something most of us are guilty of which is you've got a lot of same face going on. Most of the women not only have really samey looking faces but very similar expressions, their all wearing a scowl. Even on the expressions page there is a lot of >: [
That being said the drawings are well rendered and stuff, the clothing and armor is all done well. There's a lot of cool stuff going on in the picture on the right in post #13. Not just in the clothing details (that skirt looks really nice) but also in the background details.
