Hello, I'm DragonGuard, real name Davey Hintzen. I'm 26 of age and come from the Netherlands. This year I started as a student at DAE, at Howest in Kortrijk, Belgium.
one of the courses there is preproduction, in which we train our drawing skills. We recently started with the one point perspective and recently moved to two point.
I always loved drawing when I was younger, but lost touch with it when I turned 14 or so. I've always dreamed of rekindling my lost passion, but never managed to stay with it long enough to actually gain anything of worth. And now I can start from scratch again, thanks to the idiot that I am . During my college I've been taught in technical drawing, which makes my drawings rather stiff in my opiniomn. So far I'm having massive difficulties letting loose more and enjoying the drawing process itself.
Anyway, I got my schoolpass to work today and am now able to use the schools scanners. It's not much yet but it's a start Will post some more work later on this week. I'm hoping that joining a community will also help me stick with it on a more regular basis, my aim is for ATLEAST an hour of drawing a day.
Feel free to comment and critique, any feedback is very much welcome. Also some self reflection.
Our first 2pp excersise. Front/Size view of out house with some storye elements added to make it interesting, followed by a 2pp drawing of said view. Feel like I've been pretty conservative with what "story" elemtents I added, could have been more interesting. Still took me way longer than I want to admit to.
Radnom object studies. I feel so much more comfortable sketching small sized, feel like I'm having a really hard time keeping track of my drawing on anything larger than a5.
Some outdoors studies. The first two i felt like my focus was to large and I was just trying ti draw to much. The last one's perspective is off and my lines bend towards the edge. All of them feel pretty stiff to me.

You clearly understand perspective, good! In some of the drawings you have minor mistakes. I'm talking about proportion issues (chimney in the 2ppt drawing of your house, some ellipses that are off balance in the object studies. Small issues that will disappear the more you draw and practice.
I like the last sketch the most, where you show a lot of depth by using overlap. The line weight also works, but make sure it's not just one outline. Think of the objects itself rather than the lines. I.e. The lantern on the left, the outline is darker, but everything inside the object has light lines to it. Draw everything of that object with darker lines. Same goes for the chimneys and ornaments around the doors. If you don't get what I mean, let me know and I'll show.
Getting looser in your lines is something that will happen over time, if you allow it. Everyone has their own style, some more loose, some more clean. You get then clean lines probably because of your technical drawing background. And there's nothing wrong with that. Try different media, try different techniques,... Everything will influence your style, it;s who you are as a person. So don't be to stressed about it, let it happen.
What I like to do as an exercise is draw the object / person / scene in front of me without lifting my pen / pencil while barely looking at the page in front of me.
Most of all, keep having fun! Looking forward to the update.
Well. time sure escaped me last week, with an absolute massive amount of work for programming class. However now we have our autumn break and I've already finished all my programming assignments. Only preproduction, 3d and maths remaining!.
For preproduction we had to pick a city from a list and design a diorama in its style with at least 3 different buildings. It has to include some kind of social building (hotel, restaurant, bar,.) a store and a building where someone can live.
So far I've been doing some studies and I have an idea in what direction I want to take it. The assignment is due for Monday the 9th, so still lots of work to do. Below is a selection of some of the less terrible stuff I've done so far. Will post again in a few days with some more progress.

Hello again. So here is an overview of my work that I've been doing the last week. I've removed the old images from the post above, since i added them in these as well. The following images are the ones I turned in for my cityscene assignment.
