    huh hu! replies!

@Quinn Simoes: thanks a lot man! i am not really working that hard... i just don┤t have the time to do so...

@hey Hannes, nice that you looked through my sketches again, mhh don┤t cry!!
You are right that i should work more with references, not just because to get things right and more realistic, but to widen my knowledge and understanding of complex form and shading etc.
The thing that i work almost without ref. is that i have the fear that i go into a even more realistic style, which i don┤t wanna go... but you right of course.
I recommend everybody to do ref. work and imaginary work in change but i don┤t do it myself... That beautiful woman is in order!

@zulu big thanks to you... i have to finish the last painting the next days.

Ok here a new one (wip!)
I used ref. but only for skin tone and color schema.

you have really fun work, it's always a pleasure looking in on what you're doing. shame you couldn't make the german sketchmeet, would have been fun to see you there

The thing that i work almost without ref. is that i have the fear that i go into a even more realistic style, which i don┤t wanna go...
Just remember that stylization comes from simplification of form. The better you know the form, the easier it is to manipulate the shapes Studies never hurt

@Texahol: thank you mate! Right, right... what i meant was if i use ref. for one thing (say a woman) i also have to use ref. for the enviroment and the scenery because in my point of view everything has to be the same quality to make the piece work at the end. But yeah... right. I WILL USE REFERENCE NEXT TIME!

Yeah it is definitely a pity i wasn┤t there, so i couldn┤t kick your ass for knock me out at the LMS.... PEACE!!!

yeah man don't worry about that kind of stuff, style is just abstraction, and everything you understood you can also simplify, but i actually support your mindset, it's good to do a lot of work without references because this way it's easy to see where your weaknesses are.
that last digi is coming along nicely, but don't be so shy with the lighting man

    hey mate!

Good work on the last digipaints. On the latest though the girl looks really stiff to me and the face shows next to none emotion- I also feel that the hands are too masculine. I agree with algenpfleger that you should introduce more dramatic lighting to your paintings to create stronger moods.

Keep up the nice work! You are clearly improving

Nice colours man! Your faces are getting better. I understand that the last one is WIP but I wanted to point out that her hands are way too long and big. The shoulders are a bit wide as well.

    Keep on goin' lad.

@algenpfleger: biggest thanks! I am glad i am on the right way...

@Anthriel: thanks a lot, yeah the proportion is quite off, i already fixed it... i will show the final when i studied hands and birds a bit more!

@Wakkawa: thank you too, the wrong porportion might be the result of the weak concentration i had while starting this painting...

    Ok, here a small update:
The first is a enviroment speedy, i don┤t used a reference for this, but i studied some photos of landscapes...

The second is still wip, i used reference, although just for the shading of the face... so much work to finish this one...

Wow seven replies in a line, that┤s really rare!!

A B I G thank to you all for the candies and lollipops! Really appreciate this, i hope to give you some feedback too!

@Darkside: Long time no see, mate! School isn┤t that fun at the moment, too much things to finish and too much to think about. My creativity really is at a low level...
does it works out as i thought? Well not really, i thought i could work at my illustration and arts skills after school but this is quite seldom as you see at my sketchbook. Really have to do a lot so that i have both or trible ways open when i get my Bachelor of Arts in a year. (interior design / illustration / art)

    Hope you doing better!!

    Here are two speedies
the first is just a color and texture test

the second one is more about values and atmoshpere...

I didn┤t do as good as anything the last days...

Yesterday evening i took my wacom pen and just drew a bit.... so here we go:

I was inspired by some photographies of Zena Holloway. And the DEEP thing here on C.A.
Although i didn┤t really used it as reference for long...

Here a two version; i am near finish so it is just about colors details and small refinements.... which on do you prefer?

Ooooh awesome. Hmm I don't know. Maybe use the cool background of the first version with the waaaarm body of the second one? More contrast, more depth. I think.

You said you wish to have as much time as me, the truth is i don't have that much time, it's just a matter of... how you use it Listen to Bobby Chiu man! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=uJowNFmuul8

oh dear, long time no see.
    School had eaten me completely.
But now i have finally vacations!!!

I see my last update was May 18th... lol
so this is the first real thing in a long long time,
it was for the CHOW 118, which was canceled, which is really a pitty.
Nevertheless here is my current work status. Still much detail work, lighting and color things to do.
    No reference.

Oh and thank you all for your comments, really appreciate it and i gonna finish the mermaid painting in the next days.

    Cheers
