Well the subscription is paying off already! I expect this in daily doses, or as recommended by my physician.

Whoa, you are pumping theese awesome pictures like there's no tomorrow
I especially like the exhibition pictures, any chance you have them scanned bigger? The one in lower right looks really awesome, as do the life drawings.

We were also talking about doing some weekly activities within our ssg. There is a topic in our group forums in 3.0 (or atleast there was i think the servers did a rollback or something, because the whole group doesn't appear anymore...)

haha yeah skeiff i did kinda exaggerate the veins the purpose was to have a feel for the way they wrap around the hand...next time i plan to make them more subtle.

thanks inkfish its impossible to scan way too hard but i have larger photos in a thread i posted in finally finished, do a search on my username under threads made, it should be there, its called introspectus i think.

    thanks foxoo ill try.

man, they must love you in atelier-land, rod. that year you spent concentrating on those self-portraits really helped you along with your representational skills. that hand is awesome, as is the guy smoking. the consistency is really improving in the figure drawing in general, as well. you'll only keep getting better right now as well, since you're there full time.

    excellent, dude, keep going.

That superduperman is awesome. I especially like the way you've handled the knee region. Very Nice. On the largest hand in yesterdays hand studies the fingernails are pointing in peculiar directions and the fingers are tilted weirdly. The veins are looking very nice. I would like to have your rendering skills if you would like to give them away. Pretty please?

Super solid stuff man, it's a pleasure to see such dedication and passion for studies, i love the quick gestures.
That superman looks really cool, you should try more of that kind of dynamic poses.
Anyways, cool and inspiring as always.
Such a pleasure to stop by.
    Cheers

I just love looking through this thread!

You know what I just noticed? You use a lot a lines to find the orientation and angles of the skeleton, I think I'll have to steal that technique, looks pretty helpful.

Youre a huge inspiration man, your technique in life drawing is really smart and I just love those SPs mixed with anatomy studies you did earlier on. Your dedication for anatomy has definently inspired me
One thing though, I think a big problem in your faces is the eyes, I think you should study them some more, It helped me heaps when I did it
And how many hours of lifedrawing do you do per week, and is it with a teacher?
    peace man!

The blue highlights are really neat in the latest picture. I'm assuming chalk?

I can't believe I never heard of the line technique for skeletal structure. That's what I get for never going to art school.

    Anyways, good stuff as usual!

The back study from imagination is looking really nice so is the first gesture (model 1)

I was going thru your sketchbook and you have come a long way, esp drawing faces and anatomy but I think the way you draw the nose sometimes does a flashback to Michael Turner style. Its nice to see you breaking that up with studys from life. I started drawing from comics as well and its a hard habit to break.

Hey rod. thanks for stopping by my book and letting me know i am still alive in the art world

Seriously though, you have some beautiful work here! The forms and the emotion they express is wonderful. One thing I would love to see however is a fully rendered badass version of one of your sketchbook dealios....Like just spend 20 hours on one whack sketchbook page. I bet you would get lots of lookies on here

    thanks for the inspiration man

You've got yourself some really nice imagination there. And it's inspiring to see what hard work with studying things does to the creation of imaginative stuff on paper. It's coming alive more and more!
    Nice and rather secure lines.

    But I'm le tired...
