Hey man, well I looked thru your stuff and must say you are comming along well, and are on the right track.

One thing I noticed is you're doing lot's of awesome studies of the arm, but don't forget that there are lot's of other areas of the body and you must be able to draw them all well and make them fit naturally....altho i suppose you gotta start somewhere...but if you are going to study the arm, also study it with the shoulder blade and pectoral (depending if it's a front or back view, ahduh) This way you will also be studying how the arm flows into and connects with the body...it's an interesting relationship and takes lot's of studying if you want to be able to draw the arm in any position + perspective....

Anyways enuff rambling, keep at it dude...

Thanks for the replies guys. I kinda have been neglecting this thread, but you guys sparked my interest again, and I realize I need to get my ass in gear. So, here are a few sketches.

Shatterdome: thanks for the tip. At the time I did these I was kinda of drawing without a purpose, and without really understanding what or why I was doing them. But, since then I have wisened up a bit, and kinda started to understand what I study really is. So, I think I am going to approach it a little better when I get back into doing those studies.

Su:Thanks for the motivation. To be totally honest I don't know whichc question you are reffering to, but I probably just forgot because no one replied.

I am going to post some more pictures later. I am in a life drawing class right now, and I have some work to post from that.

Ok, I said I would post some stuff from my life drawing class. Most of these are acctually from the uninstructed session after the class, but I applied the stuff I learned earlier in the class. It was alos the first time I had drawn a male model. It was really good, because the guy had very defined anatomy that was great to study.

BTW, I had to change the contrast on some of these because they scanned really light.

This is a page of pen/marker doodles, inspired by flaptraps. I am really trying to get comfortable with this stuff, but my anatomy isn't solid enough yet.

And lastly, this is just a sketch I did, national geographic photo ref.

Also, I posted a question here so if you have the time, please take a look and post your two cents.

A study of a skull. I have a bunch of pictures of a skull from every angle, so I am going to try and do atleast one a day.

Just some stuff before I go to bed. An arm study and a robot I did out of my head. I had a lot of fun doing the bot, because it is the first time that I drew something out of my head, that kind of looked like I planned it.

BTW, I don't understand how I am supposed to transfer a study of the arm muscles, into a rendered arm with flesh. I can't tell which muscles show on the surface and which don't.

Hey Sanby, haven't been here in a while. Nice muscle study, the bot is also cool.

I know what you mean with transfering anatomy knowledge to actual drawing and all. What I'm doing lately is - I take a photo of a person with nicely visable muscles and draw it. Then I take Loomis and draw the exactly same drawing but without the skin and try to divide all muscles - like in here

Ok, I am starting to get on track here with studies and just drawing in general. This is a quick update before I go to bed, but I will post more tommorow.

Arms from ref. I signed up at 3D.sk and am downloading like mad, because I am only going to do it for one month. It is great for getting anatomy reference shots from lots of diferent angles, and different body types.

sketch for school. no ref except for using some imagery from Michelangelos creation of adam and Da Vinci's Madonna of the rocks.

BTW, I have a coiled sketchbook, and after a while my pages starts to get really smudged from pages rubbing together. Any suggestions?

So, just for anyone who actually spends time to read what I post, I know I said was on track, as in I will be posting regularly. I did acctually draw a couple pages today, a couple studies and other shit, but..... when I scanned them they scanned weird, and I don't feel like wrestling with my scanner. I'll post tommorow morning

O, btw I got a silk screen, YAY.

Ok, just two pictures quickly. I don't have great pictures of these, I just snapped them quickly, so they are a bit dark, but they are too big for my scanner.

Anyway, these are both from my life drawing class this week. I have learned to much from this class, it has been awesome and so useful to my overall drawing.

Ok, here is a quick update before I go to bed.

This page is 100% out of my head, I had fun doing it, because things are starting resemble what they are supposed to, but I obviously still have a lot of work to do.

This is from the same class on saturday, I just didn't post it earlier. It is done with ref. It was an excercise in lighting, expect to see a lot more like this.
