Hello, Sanby. Your studies of hands, feet, torsos, arms are very impressive. And your rendering is great. Wondering how you are with colors . I like the portrait of Batman and sketch of woman nude very much.

You got some veri interesting body studies. i really like your hands, and how you create a lighting. I'd like to see more full rendered drawings like the batman head.

sve: Thanks for stopping by and complimenting. As far as colour goes, I really don't know my ass from a hole in the ground. I guess that would be a good reason to start working on it. I just feel that all this other stuff isn't tight enough yet, and that would just be adding something else to complicate the mess. Maybe I'm wrong, but that is why I so far haven't really experimented with colour.

Jester: Thanks for the comments man. I need to work on the fully rendered stuff. The Batman thing I was relatively pleased with. I often start working on a long piece like that, and half way through I lose my motivation because it really starts to go down hill. I think my biggest problem is that I need to be more patient.

Ok, just a small update this time. Some sketching while I was waiting to pick my mom up frm the airport. This shit is really hard and I obviously don't do nearly enough.

It's Great to see the many studies.

The structure and proportions on that last set of hands are pretty nice.

Glad you stopped by. I appreciate your comment very much, it's very encouraging.

With that said, here is a small update. Yesterday i had the morning off, so I finally dragged myself over to Starbucks and sketched for about an hour. I obviously need more practice with this. I also wouldn't mind getting the Vilpuu sketching on location book, since this is his forte. Does anyone know if the only place you can get his books are from his site?

This is all pen, I've discovered I like drawing in pen. There is a certain danger to it. It's also very imediate and it makes you concentrate on line quality.

Any body out there that is good at this quick sketching on location, I would love some tips or advice, and I would also love to know how you think I am doing.

Hey man, I havent been by here in a little while. From the looks of it you are making quite a bit of progress, which is very good.

I am also liking your studies, and know you pain when it comes to drawing moving subjects, tres annoying.

Anyways I look forward to seeing more out of you, I'll be sure to stop by more often.

Ref used for all of those.

Well, I went to the Sheridan open house, for the second year in a row. Had a frigging blast, and applied to Animation, Illustration and fundies, so now I guess it's just waiting for closer to. Any suggestions anyone?

Thanks for stopping by and replying

Brall: Those moving subjects are a bugger, but that is mostly due to the fact that I don't do it nearly often enough. I'm looking forward to hearing from you again.

Heroic: Yeah man, thanks for the compliment. I agree with you about more life stuff, I am seriously lacking there, and that is going to be important for getting into Sheridan. I am going to try and make it to the open Life drawing seesion at the Toronto school of art, as often as possible. Going to continue those coffee shop sketches as well. I'll post what I've got, when I've got it.

As far as where I am, I'm in Markham wich is just North of toronto. takes me about 30 an hour to get into Toronto without any traffic.

Following in Phuzion's footsteps. If you haven't seen his sketchbook, stop wasting your time in mine and check his out.

Anyway, not exactly happy with that, it took way too long and most of it is pretty jacked.

Went lifedrawing for the first time in a while, down at the Toronto school of art. Not bad, but they light the model from a zillion angles, It's ok when doing gestures, but for longer stuff it can be annoying because the shadows suck.

Anyway, here are a few from that, plus a quick SP I did last night and a room in my house.

I am getting my portfolio ready for Sheridan, if anyone has suggestions, please share them. Especially with regards to life-drawing, and how to do environments.

Also, just bought Vilppu's drawing manual and one of his DVDs its been about a week since I ordered them and I can't wait to receive them.

    haha hey.

I went to tsa for their life drawings for a couple months, took a night course. Its not bad there, you get to draw naked people which is key haha. I went to the AGO and the instructor didnt really know what she was doing there and the lighting was pretty bad cuz it was open studio and literally there was like 5 classes going on so in comparison the TSA was pretty good.

Of course sheridans life drawing every night of the week is damn awesome in comparison too.

Your work is pretty solid, Id say if anything those lifedrawings a just a little on the light side, might want to block in with something stronger. Generally use more contrast. Your stuff on toned paper stands out.

I like your quick sketches too

thanks a lot of the comment bed. Hopefully I'll be seeing you around sheridan next year. I agree tha the stuff is too light, I'll be more aware of that next time. I really can't stand the quick stuff, it drives me nuts. I ordered the Vilppu training manual and quick sketch DVD, so hopefully I can pick something up from that.

great start and great progress, was a lot of fun to look thru. uv really improved on ur faces and hands and arm anatomy. keep workin on the life studies.my fav are #135 and #136, the two faces. love the way that the paper texture comes thru in the first one, gives it a mosaic look. onwards, keep drawing

thanks for the encouragement central. It's always nice to hear that someone thinks I've made improvement. I really like those on the grey paper as well. Phuzion is my big inspiration for those, he is amazing at them. I still need a lot of work.

This is a quick post, sorry for the bad picture, the paper is too big to scan. 3 hour pose from yesterday. It's done in Red Faber Castell. Not the greatest for blending.

O, I bought the Vilppu drwaing manual and the Gesture DVD. WOW. If you don't own these seriously consider purchasing them. Especially the DVD. It's taped lectures, and he demonstrates everything. It's incredible to watch him draw, so fluid and perfect.

Lohan: thanks. It's nice to hear that you think there is improvement. I feel that I don't practice enough because I am sometimes put off by how little I am improving, but then again, I'm not improving as much as I want because I'm not practicing. It's a vicious circle. I guess I'd better get my ass in gear.

Heroic: I am applying for Illustration and Animation. Probably will be taking Fundies for the year at least. I will definitely work on those SPs. I actually just fnished a SP series for class done from pictures though. I'll post that in a bit. I'm in Toronto and right now I'm going to the toronto school of art on Sundays. Where are you?

BTW is there anywhere I can get Vilppu DVDs in Toronto? The shipping on them to toronto is so expensive, and I just don't have the money.
