    Battle Royale

I just got to see that movie..if any of you have not seen it, i forcefully suggest you see it soon. somehow. I have yet to find somewhere to buy it in america..
Its about the near future in japan where 800,000 student boycott school, and the "big-wigs" pass the BR act, giving them the power to, by lottery, pick out a single 9th grade class and have them kill eachother off on a deserted island. its pretty good. not as gorey as it could be, and Chiaki kuriyama's in it. you know, Go-go from Kill Bill. highly recommended.

i want the 2+ hours i spent watching that movie back. I thought it was lousy; an excuse to have school kids killing each other.

That movie actually creeped me out like no other movie has before. Cuz i started to think about what i would do in a situation like that. I didn`t like the conclusion i reached at all..

i thought the story was really dumb, and the acting bad. but i like movies like that, especially ones with lots of killing and blood.

shouldn't this be moved to the movies, games, music subforum.

No way that movie was awsome! It was so cheeezy and corny that made it so good lol. The ingredients that made this movie good are the little school girls in thier cute little school girl uniforms. Ok seriously though it's like a japanese version of lord of the flies but some lines just made me burst out laughing... 'just before some guy dies by the hand of one girl he says "You know I always thought you were so cute" dies' I mean if you are looking for good drama you won't find it here, watch some war flick or something. Apparently this is Quentin Tarantino's biggest influence too. People that didn't like this movie probably didn't like Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction.

Battle Royal actually has some depth to it. It's not easily seen though. When the director was a kid during WWII they sent school kids to the factories to make weapons and such while the men were gone. Of course those factories were main targets for bombing runs by the allies.

Can't remember the full article I read about it, but the director (Kinji Fukasaku I think was his name), was in a factory that was bombed. Killed a bunch of his classmates and friends.

That's were the idea for the film originated, government putting children in harms way kind of thing. Interesting concept. The manga is way f'd up!
