    Matt's Sketchbook

Ehhh for some reason I lost my other account and its respective sketchbook (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...gos-Sketchbook) so I am just going to start over anew with this account.

I always appreciate comments and critique, anything that would help me improve (resources, references, red lines, ect, ect . . .)
Lately I have been studying anatomy and trying to bring that into my work and dabbling in color theory as well.

Here is some of my favorite work to get this started, I'll be jumping into my terrible studies and wasted sketchbook pages soon enough.

Here are some pages I've done over the past few days and a painting that I have been struggling with for a long while.

Anatomy has continued to be a struggle so I moved on to drawing a little from reference on the last page, right now drawing from reference and drawing using anatomy knowledge feels like two separate processes and I want to be able to bring those two together, we'll see how it turns out in the coming weeks

Painting that I struggled with for too long, need to just finish.

Sorry if there is bad picture quality, I don't have a good process for taking pictures without getting glare, and pages bleeding through eachother

Slacked off a little too much recently, but I am continuing to gain more confidence with adding anatomy to my figures. Though mostly I just had fun this batch of images

Particularly liked this one, thinking of making a painting or something bigger with her. . .

Not quite done with this yet, but I really feel like I did this one first layer of paint, usually it takes a few coats before I figure out all the colors and composition but something just feels right about this . . . I'll clean up some edges and add details soon.

Time to get back to work!

Beginning to realize I should probably post more digital stuff, the traditional work just doesn't show up all that well

I love the way you draw faces, esp the sketch of the girl with the bun (although her ears look enormous)

I really appreciate the flexability digital gives you, this went from figure drawing -> man being stopped by the police -> neighborhood kids attacking a ufo. and I didn't have to worry about wasting paint or messing up or anything. Its not perfect but I had a lot of fun being loose digitally.

And messing around with color(an area I really need to work on)

Jeez its been a while, I went through a pretty tough period getting through the end of my last year and high school and getting into college and if I haven't mentioned it already I'm going to RISD!!!

Its my dream college and after visiting there and hearing so much about it from students and teachers alike I could not be more excited. This is the first time in my life I have wanted summer to just end already.

But anyways I also have been keeping doing work and now that I have more free time I think I might spend it keeping this updated. I have been doing loads more digital stuff so that'll be pretty much all i'll be posting here

Love the design of that eyeless kid! Really cool and creepy, and the wrinkles are done well.
