Meh, I tried to draw a potrait and it just went wrong and I felt depressed and wanted to tear apart the sketchbook:/
    it was this evil thingie:
"Eh, well.... I know how to look good...."

this guy is made the first 1 min from ref, rest imagination:
"Eh, well.... I know how to look good...."

just very fast outlines: ref of course.....
"Eh, well.... I know how to look good...."

Im going to do a lot of colors, currently gathering things for oils. I got the oil colors, the brushes. I need terpentine (to clean brushes), linseed oil as thinner and canvases.

These are made with derwent artist color pencils, they are a bit waxy wich I like, thanks for the tip Hurricane.

    ref
"Eh, well.... I know how to look good...."
    imagination
"Eh, well.... I know how to look good...."

Im going to start draw more.

Obvious improvement! Good job, man! I just started drawing in November, looks like we're in the same boat. Keep at it man, there's plenty of potential here.

So I got some CC yesterday at IRC and I took up my loomis book. Started studying the face with a skull and muscle anatomy picture. Here is the result:
wait this one was ref: (loomis)
"Eh, well.... I know how to look good...."

    non refs:
this was scanned crooked, so the heads arent THAT crooked, but yeah gotta get better at that.
"Eh, well.... I know how to look good...."

Im going to start doing at least one color pencil drawin everyday, it's so much fun:
"Eh, well.... I know how to look good...."

started working on my bodies wich btw is hard if your not doing a front view. The first page is kinda ref based, the other ones isnt so much, maybe just what the shoulders is proportional to the waist:
"Eh, well.... I know how to look good...."
"Eh, well.... I know how to look good...."
"Eh, well.... I know how to look good...."
"Eh, well.... I know how to look good...."

Hey, your doing really well! Keep drawing from ref, you'll learn ten times faster then. I really liked the colorsketches, awsome progress.

    keep it up mate!

so we meet again !!! *pulls out a banana*

i think you should slow down on the tempo when you draw from ref, draw slowly and soft, almost invicible lines at first, so you get the shapes down, SOFTLY ! ...then when you think that you have a good foundation ( look at the ref for 1-2 secs, check your drawing for 1-2 sec, ref, drawing, ref, drawing, do you see any difference in the form and structure ? if yes, change it so you almost cant see any difference between the 2) THEN start shading, softly, SOFTLY, build the picture from highlights down to the deepest shade, squint your eyes alot, try to mimic the shapes of the shadows and their placement... draw softly and slowly, take your time...
i think if you spend like 3 hours or more, slowly working the picture, you will learn how to use a pencil more, other words the technique behind it, and practise on your eye/hand coordination, are you up for it? i think it would help you alot my friend!

    cheers !

I honestly couldn't have put it better than Hurricane did. Excellent advice there for everyone, including myself.

I totally agree with him, that's some great advice right there!

Good luck, Profil! You've got plenty of visible improvement in your faces with pencil, keep it up man!

haha, thanks for the encouragement everyone.
Ok my faces suck ass, so I made some comic studys, duno why though:/. Lot of school work latley (it is true really) so I didnt have that much time, got a bit more now though so more updates hopefully.

2 pages of comic studies (fast ones):
"Eh, well.... I know how to look good...."
"Eh, well.... I know how to look good...."

    from imagination:
"Eh, well.... I know how to look good...."
"Eh, well.... I know how to look good...."

ref drawin (wich sucks, the proportions are way of from the original and my printer wasnt good so the print out of the orignial got messed up but I did my best with the time I had):
"Eh, well.... I know how to look good...."

i think you got alot of potential your drawings, i would suggest to check out the constructive anatomy book and some ink hatching books, there the same as pencil hatchings except a little bit different...tip:the hatchings go in the direction of the aroundness of things, to give depth and value.

you're doing great, good work ethic. I feel you may need to get some more variety, just for the sake of continuously challenging yourself. don't want to get stuck in a groove... a rut.... like me...

Not a bad job on that mask drawing. If you can recognize that the proportions are off and where, then that's a good start. At least half of learning how to draw it learning how to see. Keep up the studies! The more studies you do, the more you'll build up a memory of that stuff when working from your head.

Your ink lines are very scratchy. Think a bit more about what you're going to lay down on the paper before you draw it, and try to get it down with fewer lines. If you feel the need to do (as one of my teachers used to say) the chicken scratches, at least try to work at continuing each line where the last one left off. It might just be that you're trying to draw everythign too fast? Maybe take some time and slow down a bit.

    Keep up those studies!

    Hi Profil
The mask is really looking very good! I think if you'd invest a little bit more time and thought (like looking for references at parts you aren't secure enough) in many of your drawings they would all look that great!
I also like that gestures in your last update!
    Keep them coming!

be very loose in your drawings and don't hatch a line around the bodies...draw shapes for the joints so that you can construct the anatomy better...or that's just me.
