Ming, the Explorer

Deadline - Sunday, January 25th 10PM GMT

Ming recieved the "Explorer" tag after a great deal of explorations throughout the world. The discoveries made by Ming were always the gossip among the locals of every city. Ming's last exploration was supposed to be the greatest journey yet; to explore the unknown regions of the Wandering Jungle. This area was named this way because no one who has ventured into this jungle has ever returned...Ming was one of these people. But Ming didn't perish. In fact, what was discovered made Ming want to never return.

The Requirements:

Must be human
Can be male or female.
Of Asian decent
Dressed in exploring gear
Has glasses
Genre is Science-Fiction Fantasy (Think of a fantasy world where science evolved quickly, but still a bit primitive)
Optional: What did Ming find?
Backgrounds are acceptable.

The Rules

Finals must be posted in the finals thread before the deadline
Final post must include the CHoW # and the artists username at the bottom of the image within, at least, a footer bar(TYPED, NOT WRITTEN)
At least 3/4 of the character must be visible (minimum from the knees up). No back views are allowed without a front please.
Only ONE character please and no multiple submissions.
Sketches or rushed artwork will not be accepted into the poll.
No photograph paint overs, must be 100% original work.
At least two wips posted with your final in the finals thread.
Design your character for the brief, not for your personal fetish.
NO ENVIRONMENT BACKGROUNDS! You may use simple shapes,gradients or silhouettes. (UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE WITHIN THE GUIDELINES.)
Please read through the thread for any posts made by the mod. They likely answered a question that was asked about the challenge!

Thanks for the feedback guys! I tried a few things to make her look more like a world renowned explorer, but they all looked out of place so..medals/trophies :-/
I did learn a LOT from doing this though.

Wow, I gotta say some of these got pretty creative! I really like the cartographer idea, its a unique way to incorperate art in the explorer trope.
I know I won't be entered in the contest but I'll still post this. Unfortunately my tablet pen died and someone else is using the charger so I used a mouse to finish it :/
