    Uganza Bizaza!!!

This is top notch work. the pencil sketches remind me so much of a young klimt! so id say your main influences are klimt and mucha?

superb work matey. loads of them went straight to my references folder.

    Hosheet. lots of replying.

LengendaryLeft: Hey man, thanks, and i'll crit anything you throw at me.
Monkeyoakum: thanks, the tail thing a DB reference? took me a sec!
Marioucci: thank you, i do like Mucha, but i feel like I have too many inluences to put into a list.
    Jesart: I appreciate it
    Infinit: No prob
Enthombed: Man, i've kinda taken a break from the pencils for the last year, I really should jump back into that stuff sometime
    Hurley: Hopefully I won't disappoint
    Caskin: thanks
Oaksford: yo, you still in town, or you get an internship somewhere?
Donovan: Getting to do the model studies is simple, just sell your soul and firstborn to afford art school. Helps if you don't like kids and are going to hell anyway.
    MecHoney: of course
    kawakaze: thanks, and no prob
Camara: thanks, rendering soothes the soul!
    asoir: thank you
Anurizm: It probably has more to do with attitude and experience than the position of the hand (though I wouldn't really say I have enough of either when it comes to drawing, but you know what i mean).
mentalsherpa: I no rite?! same with illustrators like Norman Rockwell!
chromosome: thanks man, i definitely struggled with finishing that robot piece. most important thing is that I learned from it.
    Denniscurrie: thanks a lot
Jaygunz: you're definitely right, especially for my finished illustrations. spending all my time drawing deathly-still sitting figures doesn't do loads for my sense of gesture and emotion in illustrations. i'm definitely trying to work on it. thanks for the feedback!
    designboot: thanks
    Sepulverture: thanks for the compliment
Zoroko: thanks, i'm sure the longer you look at this stuff, little things pop up to crit. I know the just glare at me, but you gotta just keep moving forward. You can't save all of them.
Bhanu: last post should be good now. And hey, we all like bad jokes sometimes. I definitely do.

    Slav: thanks

so here are some images from the last year of online inactivity. I'd been focusing almost exclusively on traditional media, with ok results. I'm about to jump into a unified body of work in digital though, so I'm really excited to see how digital is once I get back into it. I will probably have that body of work ready at the end of April. Im very excited about it, it is the first step in a much bigger project.

Wow, I can tell you are an Illustrator, it seems like, you would be put pieces in a book of some sort, or basically a story, keep it up, I love em.

LegendaryLeft- thanks, I got a newer jpeg of that one up since your comment, so the colors are a little more accurate. And I dropped by your SB too.

JesArt- hopefully. I'm actually in the middle of writing a story for myself to illustrate (and trying to write an epic-ass story is epic-ass hard). we'll just see how all that goes.

Hey Mclean thanks for dropping by the SB and thanks for the pointers its much appreciated and i see the flaw in the anatomy. I do read the anatomy books when doing studies and i will try to pay closer attention to the muscle contractions in the next few sketches which i should be posting up in the next few days.... Thanks again and im looking foward to see what youve been working on

That top illustration in post 162 is ridiculously cool! I like that you try several different styles, but that style in particular (comic book/cartoony kind of) really works well for you it appears.

The concepts behind a lot of your work is outstanding. I really like the vision you apparently have. Looking forward to more!

Also I saw your post in Legendary Left's book and thought it was very intuitive.

If I was going to offer any critique with all of the ass patting it would be that the pieces with cleaner edges read nicer than the rough paintings, imho. The yellow outlines around the girls head kind of distract me. Her face is gorgeous and so it's frustrating when the eye gets pulled away from it like that.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your work! Hope you keep on!

    Hi Mclean!
I love your style, very cool, your pencil drawings just pop out at you, to you manipulate them on the computer at all? Why can't I get my pencil work to do that!
Overall your work is very dramatic, and full of life. I don't think I could find a single piece you have that i could say was flat or boring. Wish I could say I had a crit, but I don't.
    Keep up the great work

You can obviously draw and paint. But I like the fact that you are also trying to push your play with concepts... This is especially true in the last two pictures. Those two are the best of that bunch because conceptually, they are the most interesting. Would love to see you pushing that even further though.

Beautiful illustrations! The twisted city is crazy and cool and I like how you managed a sense of depth and perspective despite the distorted buildings.

    I'd love to see more!
