    just did it.

hope they could stop it somehow, although Hussein already forced his people to fight America (were in the news)

    interesting topic.

I dont believe signatures arent going to do much at this point...not as long as undeclared and banned chemical warheads and other goodies are being found by the UN search team...troops are massing...war is near. Evidence is piling up...no matter how small...it will be enough to remove the iraqi regime I would think.

it seems inevitable...may peace come quickly.

    Lets all hope so.

Its seems that he will be removed and should be removed. Lets just hope its as peaceful as possible.

Also, I found this link while searching for info on Saddam Hussians character, and I thought it was interesting.

    @ sky:

afaik - almost everyone in iraq is muslim.
most muslims are anti-american and against christianity. and the regime is likely to the taliban-regime, etc.

the main reason ist the oil, of course

    but that's just my opinion.

there are different ways, the best (although it's brutal) is simply to send assassins which execute hussein & co.

as i said, brutal but effective (at least no civilians would suffer).

(don't know if my english is enough to explain.)

Its always been to my understanding that the true Islamic Religion is a peaceful one, and its a select few who twist it into something perverse. But I don't personally know any muslims and I haven't really researched it so I have a very limited knowledge.

Funny thing about this is: Saudi Arabia (a so called pal of the USA), has a heap of evidence showing their $$ support of terrorist activity in Israel/Palestine. I guess daddy Bush's big plan is to Threaten their ass after we finnish with Saddam, since we need their soil to attack Iraq.

I tell you what ladies and gents, I've been in the US Air Force for 16 years, still in the reserves for the last 2, and I'm tired of going over there. I'd much rather be an artist full time, on friendly soil.

The best weapon we have against the war mongering Oil gods of the middle east is Alternative Fuels for our precious automobiles.

There have been so many comedians over the past 10 years saying jokes about how our army is getting lazy and we need a war and stuff... and now that it's actually coming to that point I'm felling a bit shitty... I wonder if this was the same situtation as desert storm, i was to young to feel it's effects, all i know is that it was over before i knew it started...

    cryo:
i see the situation with islam/radical islam/saddam more like this:

islam in itself is a religion like christianity, buddhism etc...
once you go overborad with it, islam still has a few childhood diseases, imho. everyone can interpret their holy book as he or she wants to. christianity has an own institution for this.
reading the message of bloody war out of a text that has been changed by everyone a little bit over the years is easy, especially when there's no one to tell you what it meant initially.

as for radical islam and the iraqi regime, i don't think there are too many links.
radical islam regimes like the taliban or radical muslim terrorists like bin laden want religion to be the ruling power, too, the executive, legislative and jurtisdiction in one.
saddam on the other hand is muslim, yes but his regime is not religiously at all. he's a dictator. in fact, people like bin laden are kind of concurrents for him (if most radical muslim groups hadn't more important foes to concern with - western world, bad commercialism etc...). saddam's a worldly dictator, not a religious one. saddams' like a military focussed dictature. he has to stand for the clear division between his worldly power and religious power.

in saudi arabia, it's different. there, the sharia (muslim law book based of the coran) is law, they can throw a woman to death with stones if she commits adultery.
the saudis, though, know about the power their oil gives them. they exactly know where their money comes from(US). that's why i think they won't engage in active military actions but could quietly support radical muslim groups with funds.

hardcore: i don't think it is the problem to see that SOMETHING has to be done against saddam. i guess we all are in commen opinion that he is dangerous.
(i don't believe he funds radical muslim terrorists because they are against him, too.)

the question is if you can make a war out of it in the way buch dies.
see, it's like: we do all our soldiers down there and wait to find a little nitpick to have a reason to attack them. if we end up finding none, we will find a different reason.
he could have attacked him just without any reason, then.
and there is a dictum about attack wars and the nato etc...

to me, bush's actions sound like "i'll take revenge for you, daddy".

Wheres the proof? I'm not convinced that Iraq has "weapons of mass destruction". On CNN i saw someone ask Bush directly: "why don't you show the proof to the public?" and he said it should be left up to Saddam to prove his innocense. Am I the only one that has lost almost all faith in our nation's president? does anyone else feel that way?

it also bothers me that we are attacking a country of 20 million, not just Saddam. America will only lose soldiers, Iraq will lose weman, children and cities...

I found this statement very bold and very well said.

    from the web site

    Veterans for Common Sense

    "You're joking, right? Posted 1/19/2003 12:13:15 PM
    Another Desert Storm I Vet
    >>Yes, this is protecting our country against a tyrant, Saddam Hussein. It is far better to fight him in his own country now than when he uses weapons of mass destruction against us.<< WHAT weapons of mass destruction? Spitballs? The inspectors found empty shell casings. Meanwhile, a genocidal maniac rants away in North Korea about incinerating the U.S. with nukes and the Chimp in Charge backs off. If we attack Iraq without world support, without a clear and imminent provocation, we are asking for a holocaust. I will not support the Bush family empire. I will not support Wilsonian "nation-building." I will not support round two of sick desert vets filing for disability from exposure to toxins such as depleted uranium and dicey vaccines. If you want to go back, knock yourself out. Count me out. "

Yep, very well said INDEED. And don't forget about all the 'tailoring' that the SHRUB Administration has going on as we speak in the name of homeland defense all while the masses are distracted by Iraq.
