    Hey dude, welcome to CA!

Pretty good value structure on this one, but I think you need to pay more attention to the mid tones if you are trying to be faithful to the reference. The structure is off a little too. Are you using a constructive approach, like Loomis, or are you just eye-balling it? Overall, it's a nice compelling image and I like the way the light hit's the subjects eye.

Keep posting! It will help us give you better advice for your work as a whole, if that's what your after.

Yeah I agree completely. Without paying too much attention to the mid tones, I seem to make the skin look almost like a brushed metal texture of some sort. I should work on fixing that beccause it's a very common problem with me!
And I didn't use any sort of approach, I just eye-balled it.

So yeah thanks a ton man! I'll definately try to post some more sketches and notes

Here's a digital study I made in a little over 2 hours. As usual my proportions are off so I should work on fixing that!

A super old study. I should probably try it again to see if i've improved sometime (:

And a question, why is it that when I post a picture in the thread, it shows up a second time right below it titled "attached Images." Is there a way to prevent the pic being posted 2 times and how?
EDIT: nvm I figured it out!

Here's an upper body anatomy study I made yesterday. I feel some parts are off but overall I'm happy with it (:

here are some gesture drawings I've done everyday for the past few days using pens and pencils. (: Each gesture took 60 seconds except for the last page which took 90sec!

Helmet study I painted in photoshop over the past few days. Definately one of my best paintings so far

Now I see why so many painters say that you need to start of with blocking in the bigger shapes THEN save details for the end!

    My first ever character design...thing!

This is a combination of some of the things i've learned over the past few weeks, such as values, color theory and a little bit of anatomy. It's not fantastic but personally I'm pretty happy with it (:

Had an extreme artblock for the past few days, but pushing through it helped me get over it.

Anyways, I've been doing sketches, gesture drawings, and studies everyday so far. Here are just some of the things i've done (with the last one being today's warm up sketches) (:

    (please excuse the HORRIBLE quality)

Deer studies/sketches made in 2 hours. Am I working too slow or is 2 hours good for this kind of work? Just curious (:

My FIRST ever mech drawings! Was extremely unconfortable at first, but by #2 I got comfortable (:
I might do some spaceship and plane sketch/studies soon to better understand how to create my own designs too.

Woah. It's been a while huh? It's been a short ~4 years lol.
Anyways I'm thinking about posting regularly/weekly on here again. I'll see how that goes

Attached a recent landscape sketch thing.

Challenged myself to draw a character from an old mobile game i used to play a bunch. Ik it sucks (the drawing not the game lol) so let me know what you think of the anatomy and linework.

Brigitte!!! How is my line work? I'm revisiting practicing my basic drawing skills as well as refining my line work. I find I've become too reliant on simply painting and blocking shapes waaay early on in so I figured it'd help to push myself to learn how to start a painting w/ drawing THEN going into the painting stuff.
I guess what's stumping me rn is how I paint under the line layer, but 75% of the time when I turn the lines off it looks like shite??? I feel like I should refine and clean up my lines more but idk really. Seems like such an elementary problem that's probs been answered 1000s of times already lmao.
