I'm thinking of entering an art school. aiming on becoming an art director for movies or games in the future I think. So going this way is a good start I'm gessing?.. ...
I live in sweden but are mostly looking for schools in the US or UK area.
Any of you have any tips on good schools? Where did you guys go? was it any good? about how much dose it cost? And what does it take to enter those schools?
Any links to the schools that you recomend would be great!
Did some research and came up with theese schools:
All theese are US based..
Thanks for the other 2 schools! they seem great as well...
well.. I search the net.. I also watched other threads in some fourms as well, school recomendation from other artists and so on..
Pleace post if you know more schools...
I was thinking.. some schools want to see paintings. I is acceptable to show paintings you did on the computer with a wacom tablet? I use to paint a lot theese days in photoshop and was wondering if it's a good thing to show up those as well..
Anyone heard of the Art institute of seattle?
Their media art & animation program seems to be the most tempting school and program I've found... it seems damn expensive though.. anyone heard or have any experience of that school?
hey man you cant just go to school to be an art director. they give those jobs to people who move up the ranks from regular artist. How would you direct the art of an entire project if you couldnt do it yourself? It sorta like saying you wanna join the army as a general
Yeah... that is true... I know I can't just go a school and then be an art director... just that this would be something for me in the future.. not directly after school... just that I think that art schools might help me and lead me closer to that goal.
Instead of just working with CG models for a living I will be learning more about art in general. Going to an art school I might learn more about art and how to create it and not just Cg models but more traditional skills like concepting and more understanding in design, lightening, fine art, compositing and the history of art as well. theese skills and knowlege I think is important if wanting to become an art director some time in life.
I'm not saying that I'm gonna get a BFA degree and after that expect someone to hire me as an art director. Just that I think this will open new doors of opportunitys.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
