A journey of hope and despair

Hello everyone. I'm 17 y/o , and a senior in HS. Although I've been doodling for a large portion of my life, I would like to get serious.

I'm taking a gap year, so I'll have a year of concrete studies before applying to the school of my choice.

I'm hoping that in a years time I'll be able to improve to a point where I can make a decent portfolio for someone my age. My main goal at school, if I get in, is to learn even more knowledge.

My interests are dark/fantasy art. I really enjoy art that makes you feel creeped out as well, like artist, Kaneoya Sachiko.

In a few days I'll be purchasing some drawing pads and pencils, but for now I only have my dying tablet! Lol. I plan on going through all the basics and foundations shortly, on paper, rather than digitally. Advice is more than welcome.
