    Olympic Runner ------------->

    Yes yes... my first bomb in a while... Thanks for all the crits ppl. The colored version really takes away from the original drawing .

    Conclusion: I don't like it at all...
    I'll leave the pic up a little longer to show my shame...

    I really like the style, its exaggerated just enough in the anatomy, and the sense of motion is great. I feel however, that the background doesn't match the speed of the runner, right now it's only a gradation with texture. Still, aside from that, great work.

    uh...is she giving me the middle finger???

    Nice, it looks like I feel when I run. I just graduated high school and I ran track and cross country. This pic brings back a lot of memories. Very cool! I really like the style.

    Your pen work is great, I've sat in awe many times while looking at your work. There is something about your lines that I think is lost here. Some simple toned washes might work better.

    Just my two cents.

    I like the overall optic of this piece...very cool...

    I think the curved lines are looking fine on the hair, but on the other parts like legs, back, arms they look like hair Maybe you should use straight lines for the speed-effect there...

    Though you exaggerated the anatomy her left hand seems not correct in anatomy...you should redraw the fingers...

    Other than that a very well done piece!

    Yeah on my second look I realize that the reason it's not working as well as it should is because the background is pulling forward and "wants" to take centre stage over the runner. Maybe desaturating the red will help. I also agree that the fluidity of the lines that was in the original sketch is lost somehow imo it's the background.

    Later.

    As stated, the background made it feel less like motion and more like a snapshop of motion.

    Also, is she meaning to give the middle fingure to someone with her left hand?
