One hundred day challenge #5 - Human Anatomy and Clothing

Hello, and welcome to 100 Day Challenge #5: Human Anatomy and Clothing!

    RULES:

-Post once a day in this thread. Failing to post within 24 hours results in being eliminated from the challenge meaning you will not be able to post within the thread again.

-Spend at least 30 minutes per day on your human anatomy and clothing studies then apply the study through memory or imagination.

    -
Each day when you are ready to post your image, go to http://www.100dayartchallenge.com and click “submit”. You will be redirected to this forum thread to post your image. (This marks your day as “completed”)

    - Please Include a header or footer on your image with your CA name, the Day#, and the time you’ve spent. Please note:-Website has a daily timer, and it does NOT follow specific time zones. Make sure to post before daily deadline

-Your studies can be anatomy, clothing, or preferably both. As long as there is a decent mixture of anatomy and clothing, you will be fine.

Failure to perform any of these tasks (dedicate 30 min + post + compile final result) will result in being DISQUALIFIED.

Hey I don't see the "submit" button on the website. I'm probably completely missing an obvious button but I've looked several times both on the main page and when I clicked on the current challenge (the one that lists all the participants' names and the comments).

EDIT: Is it the "watch challenge on ca.org" button? If so, whoops!! haha

If it is not on a specific timezone, is it at least specific? If so, I would really like to know the start/end time of each day. So, for myself, I can at least have my timer to say 3PM every day or 2AM or whatnot.
I also do not see a "submit" button.

    Thanks!

    Hey Elinoree,
The timezone is Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) , if that helps you keep track of the time. Also the timer is a little misleading right now, it says it is counting down day1 but it is actually counting down to the start of the competition. In about 5 hours the "submit" button will appear

Hey guys, first time i've done an 100 day art challenge. I'm super excited to track my progress like this, it's awesome Had an extremely hard time with drawing hands all my life. All are from reference except for the eye sore at the end, I tried to apply perspective to the hand and I just got very frustrated. Tomorrow will be better!

    99Chihuahuas day 001

Akashdeephehar, iAmCatharsis, and Mellie: welcome, first-timers!

I started out with some head structure studies! Loomis is a great place to start, I am going through my "Heads and Hands" book and learning a lot.

    Here's my day one!
Some warm up gestures and torso landmark studies I'm doing as part of my reading for Michael Hamptons book.
I had a lot of trouble trying to find the legnth of the gap between the Anterior superior Iliac Spine (front bones of the hip)(practicing my terminology) and the ribs of the rib cage.
I also had trouble trying to understand the volume of the rib cage as well as the pelvis along with trying to capture the independent movement of the clavicle.

    Day 1 Post

Sketched a friend's clothes to get a better feel for folds and wrinkles. Did a few gesture-ish figure drawings as well (one of three pages. The other two pages were of pretty bad scan quality). Time about 45-55 mins. Lost track of time but I know it was well over 30 mins.Name: day_1_post.jpg

I nearly didn't post these as I'm quite embarrassed to show them... As you can see I've never drawn before, and even as a child I didn't draw much.

    Oh well, let's see if I can improve.Name: P1030116.jpg

    Hello Challenge-Seekers!! Day 1! Woo!

I'm really interested in learning how to draw the figure in perspective. Meaning, draw the figure itself as having a sense of mass and depth, as well as drawing the figure to fit into the scene around it. I'd like to do a lot of mannequin studies over the course of the next 100 days, working with this concept. I hope to work studies of clothing into this main area of focus.

    References:
    Successful Drawing, Andrew Loomis
How to Create Action, Fantasy and Adventure Comics, Tom Alvarez

Though, I don't particularly dig Alvarez's drawings, his information is pretty good in the clothing chapter, I think: 4 Main Types of Folds:
    - Gravity - Extension - Joint - Compression
"Each of these share the same basic element: the fold origin point."
Gravity Folds form when there is no other force acting upon hanging cloth besides gravity... here's my attempt to add gravity folds to the Andrew Loomis figure I'd practiced a few times:
