    Raz's SB

Hey there, I'm a long time lurker and fan of CA. Always wanted to start a SB here but never got the chance so I'm looking to change that! :)

Quick black armor study from today, done in preparation for an upcoming personal piece that's going to feature black armor. I will probably be doing more of these in the next few days.

For now, just focusing on major forms and trying not to get too invested in detail.

Another armor study from this evening. I think I'm seeing some improvement but oh man... rendering is hard D:

It's almost there, you seem to be on the right track.

ujjalloh - Thank you again for the kind comments.. Much appreciated.

    --------------------------------------------

Had some trouble focusing today. I think it shows in my drawings. I attempted to do another armor study and some gestures... neither of which turned out particularly well. Overall not a good day for me, lol.

Love those studies. I can't offer much advice other than: what Ujjalloh said!
    ...which is only my opinion.

Vermis - Thank you for the kind words.

    -------------------------------------

Not a very productive day. All I got was this sheet of 60 second gestures done. Just not feeling it at the moment... idk. Ah well, gotta keep truckin'.

Hey Razmaz and cool that you found time to open up a SB !
I like your faces from the first post, trying to get them down as well and it's not so easy so yeah good stuff! your anatomy skills look pretty solid, too so I can't wait for more uploads

You've got this elegant simplicity going on with some of your work that is absolutely exquisite, and then I look at your armor studies and see that you sort of...seem to give it up somewhere. You should focus on keeping that simplicity in the brushstrokes/rendering with any subject matter. Try to slow down a little bit while making them, and see if that helps.
The only reason I'm saying any of this is that it would be a shame for you to let that very valuable aspect of your work go unrefined, and unused.
    Good luck!

    Can't hurt, right?

Thank you both for the feedback. All duly noted

Been trying to get myself back into drawing. I think I need to focus on the really basic fundamentals and I'm starting with line. Some of these were from my head, some were drawn from other art or photos. Hoping to do one sketch page like this a day.

Looks like you already have solid skills, Very good shape and form understanding, also you can make drawing understandable with just a few clean strokes and thats what I call serious.

Your figure drawings are fantastic, and you seem to have a solid understanding of form that allows you to convincingly draw just about any subject! I would quite like to see how you handle environments, I think that could be an interesting addition to your sketchbook
