    EOW Round #235: The Chamber

    EOW Round #235: The Chamber

    TOPIC: The Chamber
    suggested by saintspeed

    This topic is open-ended!

The chamber as in a room, enclosure or cell area.

Thanks to saintspeed for the topic suggestion.

    Brief:
    1. Design an environment that adheres to the topic/theme.
    2. You must post at least once in this W.I.P. thread to be included in the finals thread for the voting poll.

    Deadline: August 2, 2014

Congrats to BlindLynx and CrookedHorn for winning EOW #233!

Post your final entries in the "FINAL BURNING" thread which I will post a week or so before the due date. If you need more time to get your finals in, let me know and I'll extend the deadline.

I'm assuming that this is as open ended as it sounds..?
Here's my starter WIP, the idea being thus :

    The (Butler's) Chamber:
The fork was halfway to his mouth when Nigel heard the littlest bell chime gently above him. Sighing, he slipped his feet back into his faded work shoes and straightened his tie. Dinner would have to wait, the young master needed him.

I read Wikipedia meaning of chamber and i'm a bit confused as to what exactly is a chamber
is it any kind of room ? or does the topic refer to the movie\novel "the chamber" ?

    Thanks

Grotski : great start and story!

Not sure I'll get time to do this (again) but wanted to share my idea... This + monster in shadows and group of swimmers near the waterfall... not sure it's a "chamber" enough anyway.

I think you should be alright, technically you've got an enclosed space so that fits under "enclosure" right?

WIP, simple 3D model and some painting on top. I was thinking of some photos I saw of an apartment from the 1920's which was left untouched until today, but I still don't have the 'dated' atmosphere quite right, needs more stuff or more specificity I guess...

This one is really opening it up! I like the small intimate rooms, and the rocky chambers. I found the first thing that came to mind was Angel Carter's 'The Bloody Chamber', rewriting of Bluebeard, so I'm going to try something vaguely Bluebeardy I think. The new bride coming upon the chamber where BB has stored his previous wives .. very scrappy first wip here.

Some thumbnails I did. I sketched a couple of ideas out, then did some basic sketches on photoshop and painted over them. I like to use just black and white in my thumbnails so im not thinking about values or colour, just composition and lighting.

@Ananda C: The room has got an old feel to it, the wallpaper helps and the cluttered dark furniture. I like the light from the window as well, it contrasts the stuffiness of the rest of the room
