    Color & Light 1.1

    This was done with oils. Unfortunately I only have the camera in my phone to capture things with, so the values are a bit muddled, and some of the more subtle edges have been lost.

    Oops. I don't know why it attached to versions of the same image. My bad. Anyways, here's one more I did a while back, also done in oils.

    do you know the works of Eugene Carriere?

    Nice work. On the first one, a bit more core shadow and reflect light in the mass shadow will help improve luminosity. It has a photographic effect happening where the shadow is overly simplified at the moment and the one eye is totally lost in that. The second one is nice and I think a bit more opaque light and paint strokes in the light would strengthen it even more. Check out how carriere picks up his paint thickness in the light. See what I mean?
