Good renderings! I think the toilet paper from post 119 could use a lighter shadow since it looks almost black to the rest of the image. Hope this helps.

Crankshaft - How do you mean, the shadow on the floor? Or just the shadows in general? Because I didn't really think about how dark the shadow should be really. Maybe I should.

And now for the toilet king. It's almost over I promise.

Okay, okay, next to no time for drawing today. So I've got 3 speedpaints I guess for today focusing on environments. They are a bit rubbish, but I can't draw that well in half an hour.

Neat updates! Yeah I was referring to the cast shadow on the floor. It's not that bad I just think it could be lightened up a bit more. Other than that keep up the good work!

Totally digging the new background colour, looks much nicer.

Crankshaft - I tried out lightening the floor shadow and it looked better, thanks.

Today I figured since I drew the toilet paper king, may as well draw the queen. It's early stages yet because I could not work out a direction. Any suggestions would be welcome. Also included are todays speedpaints. Much quicker than last times, and I think this is probably a good way to learn environments in that they are so disposable I don't care if they suck.

More speedpaints, and still continuing to work on the TP queen. Still not done yet!

Okay, this is all I'm going to be posting today, it's the progress on the TP queen. It's quite close to being done, I just need to fix it up and maybe add some extra details or whatever to make it more interesting. I also removed the background because it was competing too much. I might start on another project tomorrow, that should be fun.

Great stuff. Regrading the girl in the yellow dress I would give the dress some more folds to give it more form and 3 dimensionality. Right now it looks flat and 2D. Hope this helps!

Crankshaft - I know what you mean, but working out where to put folds on it is a little tough other than the side at her waist i guess where she would be bending I can't really work out where I could put any and for it to look correct : ( I could make it so the whole thing sort of sags down, but I feel that it would be too rigid to allow that.

I figured I would give this guy a body, so I did. I have next to zero experience drawing armor, so it was a bit challenging - in the end I'm satisfied with the top half but the legs are just not working, let alone those shoes.

Something I’ve seen talked about a lot is the importance of a strong silhouette for a design. I tried this out with drawing some space ships; I think they look pretty cool. Maybe I’ll try and work one up?

The toilet king is amazing! I'm having a good look at the guy to see what could be improved...

I think the places in shadow should look darker. The image consists mainly of a light value range and I think by having some shadow areas darker that would help create more 'pop' or 3D depth.

    Hope this is useful.

Shoebill - Definately useful thanks, I didn't really have any clear light source in mind when I drew him and it probably shows. I was more concerned with the concept maybe? Anyway I'll post a revised version later I'll try and fix that sort of stuff up with it.

    More quick drawings.

Toilet king looks great! I think there are some parts that are out of proportion, such as his hands and feet. They look too big to me. Those mech silhouettes look promising. To me they resemble sentinels from Halo. Also, regarding that bunny I think the background is too saturated. Hope this helps.

Crankshaft - Yo, thanks. Proportion is another thing going onto the list of what to look at when I fix up TP king, cool. After reading your comment I looked up the halo sentinel, and the bottom right one I did looks almost exactly the same. Woops.

    More faces, because.

So in the picture of the girl with the cat, she’s supposed to look like she’s holding it like a rifle or something. But I don’t know if that comes across to well? I might just redraw it at some stage.

hi! I agree with others - the redraw of the girl from the first page looks great (post #97).... but... did you give her a cold? poor thing's nose is just so red! great thing to do, though, to see your improvement!
i really dig your #106 pencil sketches & the construction stuff on 117. i - i'm a sucker for line work and traditional media, i suppose...

book marked Proko ... have to try that out myself

keep up the great work !

Good stuff. For the girl holding the cat I think her left thumb should be lowered towards her more (inwards towards the cat). Instead it looks sticking straight up as if she's giving us the thumbs up. Hope this helps.

angieb - Hey thanks a lot. And I can actually explain the red nose thing, for the original drawing I used this horrible washed out purple colour for her skin tone. I have no idea why, but when I redrew it I thought I would run with her and make her look a bit ill. Oh and glad I helped you find something useful with the Proko videos, give 'em a watch.

crankshaft - haha wow, yeah it does look like she's giving a thumbs up. Woops.

Okay so, for the digital piece I revisited a style that I used for something in one of these earlier pages. Oh and cat girl returns, or this is the original the other was based off of, doesn't really matter.

So, yeah, for a lot of this page I've just drawn faces, this time it's a face in 3D. Just a face though nothing complex like hair, or ears..... or eyes.
    And life drawing.

Great stuff! I think the 3d face is cool but the facial proportions look off, like the lips look like they should be wider and the right eye should be a bit smaller. However it's your first time so it's a great start! Also regrading post 144 all the values are the same (all too bright and blown out, high key) and hence it lacks contrast. I'd darken/saturate the pink a bit more to fix the problem. Hope this helps!

Aww but it's not my first time though : - (
The eyes should be exactly the same as one another as the geometry is mirrored, could just be the perspective making it look wrong? The lips, yep here we are again, eh?

Okay so reaaaall quick edit on this one, made the shirt darker, and totally get what you meant by lacking contrast. However now I feel as though there needs to be more contrast throughout as it may stick out a bit. Works better though just needs more variation - and effort.

Decided to change the thumbnail of the thread, not with a recent image, but with one from the thread that I liked, so that's a development.
