    misabeppa's sketchbook

    Hi everyone! My name is Linda, and I am 22. I'm new here and I just joined today. I'm not really sure what to do on this site but I wanted to start a sketchbook thread and get better at drawing. Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong ^^; Any critique is appreciated, I don't really have anyone to show stuff to in real life.Name: 004.jpg

    Welcome! First sketches are really impressive, waiting to see more from you. Do you have anything specific you're trying to learn? Keep up the good work.

    Hi! Thanks a lot! Right now I'm trying to get likenesses right, I have a big problem with that. I also just want to be able to draw a lot, so I think doing this will really help ^^

    Studying the structures of the face, the skull and muscles, might help you to get likenesses right. I know I should study them more too. Drawing a lot of different expressions is also good practise. Good luck!

    Thank you for the tips! I looked at vilppu but it seems really expensive ^^;
    Yeah...I haven't really touched anatomy or muscles or anything but I guess I should start ._. I have a lot of trouble with proportions.
    Just one for today, a self portrait drawn with a mirror. I am really bad at self portraits but I like to do them anyway.

    Someone is drawing while in class... Bio? Learning blood types and Rh etc and the lymphatic system I see man I remember those days! Funny cuz I just drew a few portraits at work on my note sheet lol...

    I can't help you with likeness other then to recommend any book that focuses on portrait drawing. For a beginner (which I am as well) to get he likeness as close as possible you may want to look into a grid system. I just read something on here I think that with likeness it's more important to get the features in the right place over having the feature being exact but being in the wrong spot. Someone correct me if I am wrong on that. But I just read that somewhere as I was looking up tips for getting the likeness right.

    For proportions, Riven Phoenix's The Structure of Man is great and much cheaper then anything you'll find at $45 for something like 128gb of video.

    Hi! Actually these are notes from a human anatomy class that I took over a year ago XD That was back when I was thinking about going into nursing. I just like to draw on top of them because to me, the page is already ruined, so if I mess up I don't feel so bad XD

    I want to be able to get likenesses with just my eye, so I don't want to use grids or trace or anything like that ^^; And yes, I know all about how important placement is...I've drawn tons of screwy portraits that don't look anything like the person they're supposed to XD
    Thanks for the tip! I just have one book on portrait drawing and so far I have a lot to learn
