Start of a new path - Savros's Sketchbook

Hello all. I'm 26 years old and I am an English Teacher living in Korea. I previously graduated with a BFA photography emphasis. I realized that photography is something I do not want to do for a living. So, when I'm not teaching i'm drawing. I hope to pivot my career to something in concept design by my mid thirties. To do this I have to bust my ass and practice constantly.

I also need to stop working in a bubble so I decided to finally post a sketchbook here. I need help if I ever hope to achieve this dream. So, let's get started. All of these images are from the last month. I have more but I don't feel the need to upload everything right away.

I'm looking foreword to being a part of the community!

Great start to your online sketch book. I really like the light and dark study of the water jug. It's pretty amazing.
To me the gestures seemed a little bit stiff but it might be because of the poses you copied them from. They are well executed but I would push them a bit further if possible. For example the lady pushing the carriage is at more of an angle in the photo than in your drawing. The lovely angle going through the body in the photo really gives a sense of leaning and pushing against something. I would also include the carriage in the drawing or something to help communicate the gesture more. Very nice work.

Thanks for the comments! I need to keep doing that gesture sheet everyday. It seems to help a lot.

Two more WIPS before I head off to bed.

Continued working on the paintings today. Another WIP as well. Changed that terrible head. Also some actual sketchbook sketches from the last couple of days. That last sketchbook sketch was a study of one of the other sketchbooks here then I took what I learned and made the one on the right.

You'll reach your goals in no time the way you're leveling up. It's pretty epic the way you're going so far. Keep it up and keep at it!
And your photography is a bonus asset, it'll help you in your studies a lot more since you get to personally handpick references so feel more awesome and don't beat yourself up!
