An Animators sketchbook
5 minutes in and I already regret my username.
- Hello I'm Turnip but you can call me Maggie Harp I'm 24 and I'm an above average artist, I went to an animation university and I ended up paying 10 grand a year for my tutors to be youtube & Creative Cow, laughable right?
- Life gets me down a lot so I draw it out.
- I meditate.
What I like drawing for fun:
DC characters, Batgirl, Green lantern, anything really. spiritual stuff, Geometrics, Philosopy art to music, art to poetry.
What I'd like to improve in:
Coloring and shading
Mixed media, Traditional & Digital
drawing people of all ages, backgrounds
drawing faces, women, poses, positive affirmations, always strangely optimistic. I like to help others.
perspective, comparing myself to others. Debt.
Photoshop 7.0, After Effects, Flash 8.0, Nobou Uematsu, Akira Toriyama
What I'd like to achieve:
I'd like for my drawings to tell a story, to make immersive characters, to be a comicbook artist or a storyboard artist.

Wow ,Great stuff here .I'm in love with ur characters , i can see you able to make the emotions " hands interacting with face or body " and that is quite tough .. i honestly struggle a lot with it and end up in bad results , if you have some figure studyes and u want you could show them , normally drawing figure from imagination gives you a general idea about the artist level . Wish you best of luck .

Thank you Mukkled I'll be sure to add some figure drawings. I tend to reference hands to body pictures a lot and if i don't reference they usually come out quite bad. My tip would be too take pictures if you cant find any good stock. That's true! drawing figures from imagination does give insight into the artists level. I'll be sure to check out your sketchbook aswell

I'm in love with all of your lines and your characters expressions! And the fact that its from your imagination makes it even more amazing! I wanna follow your work and hopefully I learn something. Keep it up!
June 15th, 2014 #23
My tips are, when doing expressions always have a mirror near by, the best reference is self reference ;D (also a camera and a tripod is great when you want to get some tricky poses done. )
I wish you luck
Also sketch daily is great too http://reference.sketchdaily.net/

Hey guys, i guess you could say this was late 2013, this is of a lady who had a spiritual awakening in town.
June 15th, 2014 #25
I absolutely love your faces! You capture the expressions quite nicely (: Your style is siiiiiick. Keep up the good work!
June 15th, 2014 #26
Thank you for the compliment ^_^ it took me alooooong time before my style stuck with me, it was a mish mash of other artists for awhile until i found my own style (i take a lot of pictures of myself in different angles) that felt genuine and not artificial. (you can always tell when someones ripped off an artist, it always looks off) Thanks again bud, hope to see you around x

These drawings were brain fart drawings, i needed to practice the flow of how i shape my characters, atm I've been in a rut of big boobs and hips which is not how i want my characters portrayed, its more of a 'default mode'
