A quick try with thickly applied paints in my sketchbook. Details of the fairies and guy with hound were added with black and white ink pens.

You seem to be trying many things, which is great! Try to have some kind of focus in your work though.

If I only knew what that focus could be . This thread isn't so much about showing off my great expertise in any one thing. Part of the point of my sketchbook is to find out what I enjoy enough to stick with it.

    - - - Updated - - -

Double-page gouache sketches. I have to work on my use of colour, so I limited myself to greys and an accent.

Charcoal and chalk on A6. The texture really brings down its full weight at such small size, but that's not too bad. At least I don't try and add detail ad infinitum.

I've taken a shine to drawing and paintings birds lately, and made these on A6 with gouache paints that were left over.

Thanks! I love doing it, too. Most of the thread posts are from my actual sketchbook, and I'm often reluctant to share Genius Loci work because the designs may change drastically later. But maybe I'll manage to share some more.

Very surreal, stream-of-consciousness drawings that I did shortly after one another. In part done over acrylic paints applied with palette knives.
    Graphite, pastels, ink pens.

Dabbing some graphite on the page and then following where it leads me is still hard, but a few days ago this wandering minotaur came out. The dark spots are from the graphite block catching on bumps made by paints on previous pages.

For once I followed the shapes made by the paint. And I finally found out why that's so hard for me normally - I need more than one colour. Sounds simple enough to keep up from now on.

Charcoal and red and white chalk. A bit of Matrix in there with the techno sky, but als always, it's just a sketch.

Charcoal and chalk, and ink pens over acrylic paints.
These harpies have become rather interesting to me - there are several drawings now and I'm already planning some paintings. It might even become one of the larger subjects of the sketchbook I plan to have printed this year. The charcoal drawing is based on a model I made in Sculptris and Blender.

Charcoal, chalks, colour accents in gold and silver gel pens, oil pastels, and watercolour pencils. These are all character sketches I drew as preparation for and while at an RPG convention over the weekend.

When we threw out our last printer, refill inks were left over. They have some interesting properties. I watersprayed paper, dropped inks on it with brushes or drinking straws, added salt, then used a hairdrier. I then drew on the tiny sheets with ink pens, charcoal, chalk, and gel pens.
