    Concept: Flamboyant Lap Griffin

A domestic, purebred variety of Griffin, the Flamboyant Lap Griffin is the perfect pet for the publicly wealthy family. Their plumage consistently wins ribbons in pet shows, and they fit snugly in purses, laps or handbags.

    Concept: Ornate Alpha Griffin

The alphas are determined by having contests of fashion. The male that has the brightest, puffiest, most colourful plumage overall becomes the alpha. They may also fight for supremacy but they would much rather hold these 'fashion contests' as they do not like getting their pretty feathers dirty.Name: Glamorous Griffin copy.jpg

    Concept: Griffin

The male Griffin is the dominant territorial creature of the Western Peninsula. It's extravagant feathered mane offers a spectacular show of dominance, power, and sexual prowess during mating season. Being extremely territorial, the Griffin will guard it's land with an estimated twenty mile radius and kill anything threatening it's mating rituals.

    Concept: Teal-Crested Griffin

The Teal-Crested Griffin is a rare, magnificent beast that utilizes it's colorful appearance to lure prey to it. First it draws the attention of prey by singing in an tone that is only described as "enchanting" by the few who have managed to escape its grasp. Once the prey comes into view the Teal-Crested Griffin unfurls its several wings and feathered crests and waves them around in a hypnotic motion. When the prey is lost in the Griffin's mesmerizing display, it quickly lashes out with a sharp talon and slashes the prey's jugular.

    Concept: Fansipance Gryphon

Extremely territorial, and even more vain, the Fansipance Gryphon tolerates no other creatures invading its space and will even go out of its way to hunt less attractive beasts only because of their looks. With its poofy frilly hair, and gold tipped wings, this conceited and grumpy killer can be seen strutting its stuff, even if it has no audience that it knows of.

    Glamorous Griffin

This is a strange and beautiful creature that roams the plains of the distant planet of Kepler-186f. It resembles a combination of male peacocks and gazelles, which are both from Earth. This is the first time that Intergalactic Geographic has been able to capture one of these playful creatures on camera!

The Turiger is a rare and unknown griffin. The only known info on them is that they live high in the mountains and isolate themselves to being alone or rarely seen being in a group or 2 or 3. They are carnivorous and scare easily.

    Concept: Crested Savanna Walker

This species of Griffin roost in the great savanna plains and thanks to their size and talons they tend to not worry about too many of the predators that roam the savanna. They will form small, anywhere from 10 to 20 Crested Savanna Walkers, tight knit group where they share the responsibilities of the tower(herd). They primarily eat fish in the lakes and small primates from the trees.

    Concept: Greater-Plumed Featherdancer

A common sight in cities, the Greater-Plumed Featherdancer is often overlooked due to its reputation as being 'vermin', and incorrectly labeled as being a dirty pest. This couldn't be farther from the truth, as both the males and females of this handsome species are bedazzled with shimmering, iridescent plumage from head to tail plume, to which they give painstaking care. In an effort to impress the females, the males will collect feathers - both their own, and stolen from rival males - to enhance his own courtship display. While hopping around and fluttering his colorful wings, the male will puff out his neck, calling to the female, twirling and letting his collected feathers whirl around him.

There's about 30 minutes left until the deadline so if any folks still have any entries remaining time to get them in now!

Also if you have previously posted your entry and it has 'disappeared' you will need to re-post it, because it was likely that you originally posted during server transfers and your post got left behind with the older server.

Art is not about competing against others and being better than everyone else, but it is about competing against yourself and discovering your greatest potential!

Poll is up and open for voting! 16 entries are in the poll making this a single vote round! Do not vote for yourselves people!! I'm watching you

    Rejected:
Ryamns17-(failed quality check/rushed/barely missed brief requirements) I think you could've put a lot more work into this, you did submit this very early in the round, so don't be afraid to take advantage of the time given to you. Initially it looks more like a black cat although I can kinda make out what looks like a beak and wings making this somewhat griffin-like, but I think more could've been done to the design as well. Other than just a puffy blue chest what else could you have done to make this griffin glamorous? As I stated take advantage of the time given to you and try to work to develop your concept, try some sketches, reference, use the wips thread for some advice. Use this forum as a place to learn and hone those skills, speed will come with time and practice.

tSujni-(missed brief requirement/lack of originality)It reeeaally hurts me to do this as your piece was very nice, however I felt you didn't quite play with the design of the griffin enough to meet the round's requirements. The golden colour is glamorous on it's own but it is also not something that hasn't been done before on many other griffin designs I've seen. A lot more could've been done with the feathers to make this griffin appear unique in it's design. I'd also advise against the use of wips in the image, not saying it's bad in any way but I feel it kind of ruins the presentation a bit. But in the end you have been omitted from the poll due to missing the 'glamorous' requirement and I feel your griffin isn't quite as unique as it could've been. Originality is very important in this competition!

MajorD-(not enough of the creature is visible)Was straddling the edge with this, the design of the head is very neat and some nice anatomy, but you could've done more with the design for the rest of the body as it is very plain, not to mention we can't see the whole body, especially most of the wings and tail, for a design challenge as this, resulted in a major loss of potential. As a result I had to omit you from the poll, because more could've been done with the design, especially on the wings and tail which we don't see too much of.

    Close to Rejection:
shecker15-quality check was a bit close however I do see a fair amount of effort was put into this piece so I let that slide. I'd recommend that you double check the image size as well, as once again your image is a bit too big. The size issue I don't really consider grounds for rejection, but I'd like people to keep things at a good size so everything is more convenient for voters. If you can make it so the horizontal scroll bar does not appear at the bottom of the image then your good. 1000 pixels wide and less than 500 KB should be adequate.

No problems Rob, I was thinking that it was too classic as I saw the other entries pour in.
