    Conan -WIP

This is for a monthly art competition on a website called Penciljack. Basically a ladder system , each month ppl are paired up and pic a topic, then at the end of the month the art is voted on by the forums members kinda like COW here i think. This month was Conan, Here is my entry, thought get some unbiased feedback.
The drawing is still a WIP.

First off, I would definitely look at more photographic references of snakes about to strike. The snake's upper palette and lower jaw look really flat/squashed, and the skull's structure looks a bit off.

Conan's body looks a bit stunted, like the proportions look more suited for a character who is a classic D&D dwarf then a human barbarian character. I would also definitely push the expression on Conan's face. The situation is intense, but his facial expression just seems to be one of mild inconvenience.

Yeah the snakes head lacks bone structure, and conan is abit short in the proportions.
I also think his left arm (holding the knive)might be shorter than the other.

Your conan is good though, as in he looks rugged and weathered, not to pretty.
A good version of the character.
my sketches here... , for more images and to kill time.
