    No, it means awesome.

For me the first piece conveys a lot of feelings, which makes it feels natural and realistic. Don't kill me for this but the second one although lookin' real nice does not convey as much mood. I believe this is because the first has better lighting (less flat, more shadows and highlights), has better colour (especially realistic skin), better composition (slight tilt of the head with subtle but visible perspective)(better brush economy on the hair) (better framing because it more closer thus more personal), better variance (both with color and line direction), and finally it has been better captured a realistic face features and all.

Was the second one from a photo?

Ah thanks a lot I was pretty worried and I do agree with you ... but I think it's because the picture of the Original Ellen Page was pretty nit and cleaned fir the audience ... and was not a spontaneous picture, that's why I found it perhaps more slow and maybe more " boring " because of too much perfection , to much control on the picture and we can feel it ... and maybe my problem here was I was too worried about her likeness that I didn't could put more effect to avoid to modify her too much : to resume I do guess for the first one I wanted to play with atmosphere and more than that I felt more free because it is me and I do know at which point people can recognize me + the picture was more spontaneous and I also wanted to be closer with a canvas painting than a vulgar copy of a picture already retouched .
I don't know if you understand what I am saying.

anyway both of them are from pictures and thanks for taking time for this thread.

Do you reckon than is it better on a final piece to make a better brush economy ... doesn't it look too coarse ?

Great pieces! I like the first piece, your self portrait because of you painterly approach, it looks loose and lively. The second piece is also good because it demonstrate you rendering ability. The third piece "Lu" has some structural issue with the eye that is farther away from the viewer. Nice Work!

First piece is the strongest thanks to the lighting used.
All are rendered well, but the first one has more 'life' to it.

Thanks guy ... impressive you both according to say the first piece is the strongest one ... I am not agree perhaps because it is my own portrait ... because I do really like the third one because it looks more clean perhaps and love when it looks clean enough ... I considered until now that the first one looks like a kinda sketch ... I even had doubt about putting this piece here or worth, just to upload it, I was not sure at all .... I will try to have a deeper look on it but it could be hard so if any suggestions even if you gave me greats ones.
But I seriously need to have a better look then.
    Thanks once again.
