Hello, my name is Umaru Jalloh, I'm a 3D Artist and an aspiring Digital Painter living in the Bay area. Just wanted to share my drawings and sketches. They include some life drawings and master copies. Comments are welcome.

Hi Umaru, thanks for sharing these, they are really good. I like the way you capture the form and volumes. I think if you could push the quality of the faces then the life drawing pieces could get even better.

Beautiful studies, Inspiring me to get back on my drawing after a week off! I especially like the comic style heroes and the leg studies, I could learn a thing or two from you!

Holy crud, If I could do life drawings that well I'd be extremely happy. I love how clean and structural your anatomy studies are, as for the comic style character drawings...you capture the look perfectly! (I feel a bit embarrassed about my Sabretooth line drawing now, Hahah). I can't wait to see some big finished pieces from you 'n' I'll definitely be back regularly to see your life drawings.

hey! thought i'd just jump over here and check out your stuff.
These are nice drawings! You clearly put a lot of emphasis into the them. They look very solid and the outlines are beautiful too. The proportions are a little off here and there, but hey.. thats why we do all these studies..
One thing that might help you improve is (imho) doing quick gesture drawing.. to loosen up a little
quickposes.com is one good place to do these kind of practices.

    cheers!

I was just recently listening to Sickbrush on youtube and I think some of the topics he was discussing may apply to your life drawings. Your drawings are mostly contours, which flattens out them out. It may help if you draw through your figures to give them more form, like pretend they're transparent so you can draw their volume. The next time you go to a figure drawing session, try to break down the model into basic shapes and construct them that way.

Otherwise, cool stuff! Those (Bridgeman??) studies are looking good.

Thank you dosymedia for the comments and feedback. I agree with you that i need to work on developing the interior of my drawings to create a stronger volume. Also thank you for pointing me to the "Sickbrush" videos, i'm going to watch them and hopefully i can absorb some of it. And yes those studies are from Bridgeman.

Your "muscular structures" are stronger than your life drawings, maybe you have a taste for "sketchy sketches" (sigh, sorry, bad English) you're doing well on anatomy studies and "comic style" muscles.
