Well, I was trying to be nice. Not everyone is gifted with lips.

I think you mixed up his jawline. His cheekbones are very much the emphasis of his face, the "corners" of the jaw are almost not there in real life, but you've really pushed them in the drawing.

Agreed, too much emphasis on the jawbone here...you should focus on the cheecks instead and minimize the jaw. Also, you should look at some more reference pictures for his nose, which is more hooked than you've rendered it here. And most importantly, I think Kerry's most recognizable feature is his deep set eyes and drooping eyebrows. You've addressed this in your caricature, but I think you could exaggerate it further, as that Kerry's real face almost looks like the caricature to your render.

I can't really imagine someone with such a funny face being the president of the U.S.

if he were a good looking guy, he wouldn't have to work in public service:-P Besides, you'd rather wake up to Bush's mug in the morning?

Your post prompted me to try my own take on Kerry. I recommend others take a shot...let's see some political caricatures! This one's rough and fairly straightforward, but I think I got the likeness...

Since Im a Caricature artist in a theme park Thought id give it a shot.. Just a quickie.. If I spent time on this Id exaggerate his wrinkles and big cheekbones even more.. and give more detail to his 5 o'clock shadow he always has.

Here's a quick one, based on the photo 10 minutes. I'm supposed to be working... you know, on paying stuff.

alright, work break. Here's another one... lots of fun. Have to try the other cronies, maybe. They're all such cartoons anyway.

TY Dozer. I like your take on him as well! I used to do a political cartoon for a local newpaper years ago...sort of got in the habit of quick caricatures of political figures.
