sorry for the late change but ive changed mine from Furret to Chespin.
Really nice work everyone. I also just finished coloring my picture with copic pens, but I'm not really
happy about it. I don't even know if i should submit it to the finals.
So heres a quick foto of it which i made with my mobile phone.
What do you think is it worhty for the finals? I would love to get some feedback.

Hey guys , my pokemon was Banette. No regrets yo!
I dont know if i will be able to finish before the deadline so im showing what i've got so far.The idea was to go with banette's backstory and make it look like an infernal doll without the constraints of Pokemons' RG Things that i want to add but havent yet: needles penetrating the body in various places , short of like a voodoo doll AND the most important part , his soul OR the soul of his *ahem* late trainer coming out of his mouth. Banette is supposed to keep the zipper shut or else his soul will escape his body. This is an awesome idea but i thought it might actually consume the souls of kids/trainers. After all this pokemon is supposed to be an actual doll who came to life by feeling otherwordly hatred for the kid that abbadoned it. Also as you can see i havent drawn the left hand because i cant decide wether to draw it holding his broken pokeball or not. Anyway i hope you like my Banette so far
Houndour WIP ..
Feed Back Welcome!!
hakuna matata - I think you could use a little more tonal variation on the lit planes (the left side of the arms and legs for example) to make it feel more rounded. But I don't know if you can add lighter values over darker ones with copics as I'm not familiar with the medium. That being said, I don't see why you wouldn't submit it. You put your heart into it and that's what counts.
Here's my wip. I can't quite decide - is it too flowery or not nearly flowery enough?
I finally got to a point that I'm content to submit this. I'd love to hear some last minute critiques, if anyone has some.
64% of all percentages are made up on the spot.
here are my wips so far...
Here are a few process shots of my Togepi redesign and the final.
I have a friend, who is younger than me and grew up with Pokemon, who used to rib me for liking Togepi's design. He used to say that Togepi was "just a baby fairy Pokemon," and that Togepi was "lame." So that's where my idea started and I sort of turned this concept into Togepi's chance for revenge.
One of my design inspirations for this is the Beholder from Dungeons and Dragons. It's sort of a big ball of psychopathic, xenophobic hostility, and I tried to translate some of that feeling into the Togepi design, while still trying to have fun with it. I hope you like it.
Rocue: For the creature challenge it needs to vary more from an actual animal. Is there a way to make it feel more supernatural or combine elements? Push yourself a bit more conceptually.
Michael Jaecks freaking crazy concept! so cool man, gratz!
I have done some sketches but my battery camera wasn't charge, so I can't show it now. ;<
So my start with photoshop and tablet:
And close to finish it:
What do you think about it?
@Swiezy You'll have to get Rob Powell's judgment on this, but I think it's too close to the original. The challenge is to re-design a pokemon, not just do a realistic rendering of it.
That being said, it's looking nice. Just experiment with some anatomical or topological changes to the original.
sammyart: Don't forget to include a thumbnail of the original pokemon in your final entry.
BTW just under 12 hours to submit to the finals at this point! Get those entries in if they are ready, but remember the rules and regulations! As there are already 30+ entries, I am going to be extra picky with judging and any who doesn't add the original thumbnails and those who made no claims in this thread result in being automatically rejected from the poll.
Moirae: That Haunter looks fantastic! I like how you changed the concept from ghost to look more like a jellyfish.
Not sure if I'll be able to finish in time, what with being so busy and completely new to this process (fingers crossed though, I hope I'll submit something!). I just want to say that I am very impressed by everyone's work and happy to see that this challenge brought in a lot of new artists. This has been so much fun!
My Skarmory final. I was going for a jet fighter/ pterodactyl look.
Skarmory bursts through the skies at supersonic speeds unable to be grounded by anything.
dierat - Thank you for your advice and your encouraging words. The problem with copic markers is that you cant paint with lighter values over darker ones. So i tried to add some brightness with some old fashioned crayons and now im a lot more satisfied with the end picture, you will see it in the finals .
By the way, I really like your design, but I would make the tail a bit smaller
Edit: On the scanned picture the effect is a lot weaker than on the original
