scorge: I still haven't heard anything about the stars yet from the other mods and admins. I have them all written down who's missing what, so as soon as that's sorted I'll get to work on that!
Xionix: neat idea turning whimsicot into a spider! It would be cool if it's abdomen was a lot fluffier, whimsicot is essentially a cotton ball and that could make for an interesting web structure on the spider.
Final for Salamence, he so happy right now! I might end up throwing together a couple other redesigns just for gits and shiggles, cuz it is fun reinterpreting the pokeymanns!

Thanks Rob! That was the idea but I wanted to get the shading right first. By the way I like the Rayquaza peeping in there, nice touch!

heres my effort to make some justice to one of my most favorite pokemons - dragonite.
Fat, fairy-tale dragon with tiny funny wings - sub-legendary pokemon - pokemon with the highest lvl of evolution - only true master can obtain and train such a creature. One of the most powerful pokemons, the fastest flyer with intellingence matching the humans. How would such a thing have to actually look like ??
Not sure, if I gone too far, though. One of my sides says dump it ...the other...that this is the right way - dispite somewhat radical diversion - its mystical, its legendary, its unique, its majestic and ultimately powerful. Thats how I have always seen this pokemon.
Heres original design for those who doesnt know the species.

This looks like fun - I'd love to try and take part.
If Zapdos isn't taken then I'll try my hand at that. Always thought it looked a bit silly compared to the rest of the legendary birds, heh.

Rough sketch for Sneasel! This is so much fun and everyone's designs look fantastic, I love this.

Jenzy: It's a good way to think, to help process your design. The design as is, is acceptable, but just make sure it doesn't go too much in the direction of humanoid. Just to give you a heads up.
Vatina: Zapdos has not yet been claimed, so it's all yours!
cherubea: It's a neat take with sneasel giving it a raptor like design. *psst-sneasel is my favourite pokemon so I'm expecting it to be awesome*...no pressure
Also if anyone wants to see some awesome pokemon redesigns for inspiration check this guy's gallery out if you are unfamiliar with his work!

Flame Unquenchable was nice enough to leave a great comment on my piece over at DA, so I figured I'd do the same here and give a little assistance in the form of a paint-over to help demonstrate how to come up with more effective poses for his Sandslash ideation.
There were a few issues with the original in that the contrast was too low and the shadow pretty overwhelming, so the first thing I did was to balance those out. As for the pose, it's always been a challenge to give a profile view of anything a lot of personality, since it turns the subject away from the viewer and does not draw them into the pic especially when there is only one figure. To counter this, I turned his head, brought the back claw up in a ninja pose, and really thought about the placement of the hind feet. I always try to imagine "how would this creature stand", if it was to walk away, what position would its original footprints be in? This can also help with establishing depth as it makes you think about the relationships of the legs and how to make the creature look balanced.
So, Flame Unquenchable, hope this helps you, thanks again for the kind words and best of luck in the finals my friend.
