Hi. My first post on concept art.org (just found out cghub is gone ) so here it goes. I'd like to go for a deer like pokemon so I claim:
although I'm also considering Virizion, stantler(taken) or Sawsbuck (all so similar).
As it's a redesign and not a make more realistic I'll post my old poliwirl just for fun.
Dayle yes... Omg yes. That looks awesome.
I like how he is all Asian dragonized. and the dude suffering on him...
so i re read the rules. i didnt see anything about no robotics and since my beedrill is a robot does that mean it doesnt qualify for this contest?
thewomboldt: Well, technically a robot isn't a creature. The main goal of Creature of the Week is to design creatures afterall. As I have stated any robots and such should really be restricted for IDW which focuses on inanimate objects and advanced technologies; such as mechs and robots. But I did also state that I will allow cybernetic creatures so long as there is a good amount of organic material present within the creature's anatomy.
I did not write the original rules, although I did elaborate on them, so restricting the use of robots and mechs did slip my mind as I went through the rules. I will probably add that to the rules so there is no confusion in the future.
Seeing as your Beedrill is a bug like robot I do not think it should be too hard to give it some organic chitinous structure, but try to avoid adding anything too over the top in terms of robotics (since that can also tie into the no accessories rule in some cases.) If you go ahead and post the Beedrill rendered without any changes to the current design I most likely will not exclude you from the poll, since the rules do not state 'no robots' even though they should, however I do feel like it goes without saying that robots are not creatures.
My daughter wanted me to try out on this one.. She requested that I do Vulpix, Charmander or Pignite. Are any of these available that I can try out on for my daughter?

@ Rob Powell - NO WAY! Damn, I never heard that rule before... Damn, it means I'll be not in the poll... Well, at least I'm quiet satisfied with the work =) Well as my defense, I can just say that Archeus IS a character, and not just a race. So in my mind the pokemon's god was found out he was a mechanical creature (as the Sovereign in Mass Effect) built by superior alien race. Lemme know if i can be graced for this round =)

Plaguebone: All three are still available to choose from!
BlindLynx: I have just added that rule to the Rule Thread (I will update the banner in the future when I get the chance), but since it wasn't actually part of the rules before I posted this topic I will allow some leeway for this round, in the future I will be more stern with this rule.

May I remove my claim? I just don't want to occupy it when I'm not doing anything with it.
I have a ways to go but you can at least see where I'm trying to go with it.
Xionix: If you no longer desire to work on Scolipede and you don't plan to submit it to the finals then yes you can remove your claim. Scolipede is now back up for grabs.
Progress wip~ Still kinda figuring out those claws, a bit tough with this pose
Ummmm well this idea happened in a conversation while i was messing around in photoshop but uhhh I think I'm back in this... Whimsicot everybody!
Final. Boy, nothing brings out the artists like some Pokemon! you guys are kicking ass. Just hope I remember to post in the finals this time.
Speaking of that, will I ever get my stars back Rob?
scorge: I still haven't heard anything about the stars yet from the other mods and admins. I have them all written down who's missing what, so as soon as that's sorted I'll get to work on that!
Xionix: neat idea turning whimsicot into a spider! It would be cool if it's abdomen was a lot fluffier, whimsicot is essentially a cotton ball and that could make for an interesting web structure on the spider.
Final for Salamence, he so happy right now! I might end up throwing together a couple other redesigns just for gits and shiggles, cuz it is fun reinterpreting the pokeymanns!
Thanks Rob! That was the idea but I wanted to get the shading right first. By the way I like the Rayquaza peeping in there, nice touch!
very interesting stuff ladies n gentlemen
thumbing me onix
im going with the one on the far right, i got a great idea for a composition
hope i can finish in time
Raikou... Anyone have any suggestions for a better more dynamic pose?
heres my effort to make some justice to one of my most favorite pokemons - dragonite.
Fat, fairy-tale dragon with tiny funny wings - sub-legendary pokemon - pokemon with the highest lvl of evolution - only true master can obtain and train such a creature. One of the most powerful pokemons, the fastest flyer with intellingence matching the humans. How would such a thing have to actually look like ??
Not sure, if I gone too far, though. One of my sides says dump it ...the other...that this is the right way - dispite somewhat radical diversion - its mystical, its legendary, its unique, its majestic and ultimately powerful. Thats how I have always seen this pokemon.
Heres original design for those who doesnt know the species.

That dream is yours and mine.
This looks like fun - I'd love to try and take part.
If Zapdos isn't taken then I'll try my hand at that. Always thought it looked a bit silly compared to the rest of the legendary birds, heh.
Hi everyone! this is my second W.I.P.
changing some little mistakes in the pumpkin and playing with lights!
Rough sketch for Sneasel! This is so much fun and everyone's designs look fantastic, I love this.
Jenzy: It's a good way to think, to help process your design. The design as is, is acceptable, but just make sure it doesn't go too much in the direction of humanoid. Just to give you a heads up.
Vatina: Zapdos has not yet been claimed, so it's all yours!
cherubea: It's a neat take with sneasel giving it a raptor like design. *psst-sneasel is my favourite pokemon so I'm expecting it to be awesome*...no pressure
Also if anyone wants to see some awesome pokemon redesigns for inspiration check this guy's gallery out if you are unfamiliar with his work!

Flame Unquenchable was nice enough to leave a great comment on my piece over at DA, so I figured I'd do the same here and give a little assistance in the form of a paint-over to help demonstrate how to come up with more effective poses for his Sandslash ideation.
There were a few issues with the original in that the contrast was too low and the shadow pretty overwhelming, so the first thing I did was to balance those out. As for the pose, it's always been a challenge to give a profile view of anything a lot of personality, since it turns the subject away from the viewer and does not draw them into the pic especially when there is only one figure. To counter this, I turned his head, brought the back claw up in a ninja pose, and really thought about the placement of the hind feet. I always try to imagine "how would this creature stand", if it was to walk away, what position would its original footprints be in? This can also help with establishing depth as it makes you think about the relationships of the legs and how to make the creature look balanced.
So, Flame Unquenchable, hope this helps you, thanks again for the kind words and best of luck in the finals my friend.
