Plz update your sketchbook thumbnail to your best work...and....

We have made progress on the new sketchbook pages so that the images are much larger, allowing emphasis to be put on your work, and to highlight your very best as your cover page. Instead of the former empty white space of the page and text links, the art now comes first, as it should be.

Please take a moment to update your sketchbook thumbnail, and if you want to update your sketchbook too that would be awesome too. If you have yet to do so, now is the time. Simply edit your first post, remove the image that was your prior thumbnail and replace it using the attachment manager in advanced edit. Please remove all other images in the first post - you can reload them if you want, but the date on them will make them show up on the thumb. Or you could move the other images into the next post.

We will continue to refine the pages and the layout, and with the recent update, we are getting closer to where we want to be in terms of image size, site speed, and the ability to show off the talent here...your talent.

    Thanks,

    JM and all the admin.

And make them bigger! The old thumbs were like 100 pixels max I think, but you need to make it bigger or it will look blocky. I did mine at 600 pixels wide and it looks good.

yes, that is true. We are rebuilding the old thumbs but many were small, so uploading any image as you normally would will work just fine. It auto-resizes them down to the viewable thumbnail size.

Could you please clearly explain how to choose your sketchbook thumbnail?
I'm new here and I can't quite figure it out.

    Thanks!

I've changed my first image, so I'll just play around until my thumbnail refreshes.

I had ago at updating mine but it hasn't actually changed the thumbnail yet. Does it take a while or maybe have I done it wrong? I really like the new look but sadly it has now prevented me from being so active as my 1st generation ipad can no longer load the site. Are there any plans in the future to have an option to view the site in a more basic format as in previous versions for those of us with older devices and technology?

I love that the thumbnail for my Illustrations thread is basically a blank area from the image that I uploaded. Is there any way to change what portion of the image becomes the thumbnail?

Umm I've tried again to update mine but it doesn't seem to be changing. Is there a set pixel size to use and does it need to be more than 200kb in size as mine is under?

Right - we done some further testing. Please remove all other images in the first post - you can reload them. We think it's something to do with the date of the attachment. Or you could move the other images into the next post.

I guess I'll have to try that, since replacing the first image didn't work. The 2nd image became the thumbnail.

Of course that this was a very BAD idea to put these large fancy thumbnailed
versions as a main dominating recognition of one’s sketchbook. It sucks big
time, cause I am having major trouble finding sketchbooks. It’s simply non
practical and confusing, reminds me when ‘Windows’ goes into safe
mode and you cannot do jack s**t. Please put back the old template,
where you could see a list of sketchbooks, it may not look so ‘attractive’
but it’s much more functional. After all, why are you fixing things
    that ain’t broken?

I can't work this out. I've tried to follow the instructions to make a thumbnail. What happened is that my sketch has got enormous and looks like a blank page.

    What do I do?

p.s 39, brought up before the internet existed.

It might be that the thumbnail is being made from a blank area of your image. That is an enormous picture!
