    I was dissatisfied with the range of tones and general anatomy in my last attempt, so I tried again.

    working from life is much more challenging. I would encourage you to do so.

    also the big black bars are flat and sharp edged so it's causing some flattening to happen in the piece. watch for that.
    I think the first one has some life to it that is appealing. Good of you to catch the value issues. Keep up the good work.
